OK....I need some help!!
I've been looking at some pics of your homes, and so many of you have wonderful style!
I have NONE!!! And I have NO idea how to get one..lol. Or where to even start.
If I post a few pics of my house... can you help inspire me? My home is 30yo. And we know what hte 70's did..lol. I've done some things. BUt still would love to have ahomier feel. But it HAS to be kid friendly. Daycare kidlets.
I have a very very limited budget for it. I know all it'll take is a few special touchs... I have NONE of those, really. Just a space we live in. Would love more personality.

I have no style either, so I love seeing posts where people help each other decorate! I'll be interested to see what ideas people have for you!

I tell you what I do . I look at other peoples home, magazines, web sights and what not to get ideas. When you see a room you love, copy it!

Ok... here we go. Excuse the mess of toys, I have 2 little munchkins destroying the place right now..lol.
This is the living room and front entrance.

I see now looking at pictures, there's a few touches. I made the floral arranagement over the stairs. In the one corner unit, there's a littel yellow rubber boot with a floral arrangement as well. But if there were no toys... it just seems sterile. I need something..lol

The very first thing I would suggest is a warm color on those walls ....And some color in those window treatments. Also...you might try centering that large picture over the larger couch. You might try a photo grouping on the other wall over the loveseat.
How in the world do you keep all that white clean???

Hehehe..
Ok, first of all..lol. The walls aren't white. They are a grey. Depending on the light they are a soft grey or a soft green or soft blue. It hides alot of finger smudges. The carpets were here when we moved in, freshly installed a few months previous. I pay to get them cleaned once a year. He does a marvelous job, chemical free.
It's not in the budget to repaint yet. I'd consider a new color, but don't know what. I'll try moving the picture. I have no idea how to do a phot grouping..lol. Can ya tell? Only one picture ont he wall...it used to be centered, btw, but we extended a wall to close off the dining room, and I haven't had a clue how to deal with such a long long wall.

I'd say add some greenery.
If your luck is like mine with indoor plants, consider silk greenery.
I love live plants but my success seems to be moreso in the vegetable garden than anything inside...sigh...

First, move that large picture to the other wall. Second get some greenery. And third more color on the window treatments.
Maybe some throw pillows on the couch that eco the color you are going to put in the window treatment. Might I suggest sage green for your color. You are doing fine on your own, you just need to add some more saturated color.

I agree with Stinkbug. Adding color to the walls and window treatments would really warm up the room.

I think the problem is that the carpet is light, the trim is light, the window treatments are light and even though the walls are a *color*, because they are grey, they are reading COLD in the room. You need to add some warm colors to take the chill off. Also....the items in your cabinets in the corners could be edited. Add more adult accessories, (plants as suggested), photos, books, etc. I understand you run a daycare, but assume this is also where you have adult friends over? Maybe then you could quickly tuck away the daycare items for a more defined mature look during your off time. I really don't know since I don't know how you normally live in your house....is this designated daycare space? Everyone's lifestyles are so different...perhaps I don't know enough about you. I always had clients fill out a lifestyle questionaire before I did redesigns of a room

I think sage green or rose color would be great to warm up your room. Even if you just have to start with window treatments, but idealy a warm color on the walls would make it much more inviting.
