Default What color should I use?

I'm on the final stretch of dd4 bedroom. It's been at this stage for...oh a year.

We just got the "right" dresser for her room(freecycle). And changed out the pulls. There is lots of color in her room. The lower 1/2 of her room is a vibrant purple, and the upper is nice bright sky/aqua blue. The pictures look washed out, as the south sun is harsh right now..lol. We also have a little coat rack type thing that will go to the left of the dresser for her school bag, housecoat, purse, etc. It matches the pulls on the dresser, so a floral fairy theme in her room. But not totally little girl, it'll last a few years. I know dd11 wants her room the same..lol. The boards on the dresser with all the bows is going to be above the rack, so not a focal point. DD also has several pictures picked out that will be putting on the walls. We're using raw frames and she paints and decorates them. She does very well. There is a small one on the dresser.

We have a wooden valence around the window. It still hasn't been painted. I'm changing out the blinds as they don't block light well enough, and there's a street light just outside her room. I'm putting in a white pvc vertical, and in front I'mhoping to find the purple in a sheer, so that we can open the blinds but still filter the light some.

I'm debating on what color to paint the valence. Do I blend it right in, including the border? Do I do it completely one or the other color. Or do I do it white and put in the decals(fairies and florals same as the border)?

Here's some pictures, they don't do justice to the room. It looks washed out, I'll try in the evening another day, batteries are dead yet again.

There's the freecycle dresser we cleaned up and swapped the pulls on. Her bed is there, and the bow board.

Here's part of the wood valance, it goes right down to the floor. I designed it so that it can block out light. We have that in the masterbedroom as well, and it is almost like night in mid-day if we don't open the blinds. Keeps it nice and cool in the summer. These pictures are taken with no flash and no lights on, the blinds are shut, so as you can tell, they don't work worth a hoot.

here is the other sid eof the room, and you can see the top of her valance. You can see a few unicorns up top, she's a big fan. (these were a freecycle find too).

This one is really dark as the camera is facing the bright window, but it shows the whole valance.

View from her bedroom door. Again dark because the camera is facing the light.

That gives you an idea of what is about in her room. (And ssee, I'm NOT afraid of color, even though my livingroom is so muted..lol, dd9 room is spring hiacynth and apple green, dd11 room is white with bright aqua trim and snow leopard accessories).

What do you suggest for the valance? It's essentially the only thing left to do! And I've been teetering on that one for months. It'll take no time to do it, I just can't decide.

I think it would look good with the dark purple from the fairy border. It seems like it wants to "pop" out, and that would do it. LOVE the colors, by the way!

~Very cool room! I'd paint the window valance white. You already have some white with the dresser so I think it would look good.~
