Ladies and gents, I have added a poll to my blog. I want to paint my bedroom but I have been thinking on it way too long and need help to make my mind up. As soon as I pick a color I change my mind. So , if you would please take a peek and tell me your ideas.. http://thissimplelifeofmine.blogspot...-makeover.html

Woo hoo! Another Ann poll--I love these. Mainly because I like telling people what to do...MWAHHHH, HA, HA, HA.

My immediate response upon peeking into your gorgeous bedroom ........... Thanks for inviting us!
A warm golden tone. Not too dark. Not too bright. a toned down tone of gold. A muted gold. like a tan or a khaki. maybe.
Seems magestic. neutral. able to change up accent colors with it.
Another feeling I got was a very muted shade of federal blue.
I don't know which to vote for because I don't know what the color blue or buttercream is. Do you have paint chips?

Go for Blue a dark blue like in your art work. It'll give the room a warm cozy feeling. Now I will warn you that when you first put it on the walls your going to think, "WHAT am I doing!!! This is way too dark." But trust me when your all done and the room is put back together you'll love it. We did our room in a really dark green and after the first couple of roller fulls DH wasn't sure. We've had it that way for 14 years and love it. Friends love it and it gives them the courage to do a dark color. You may need to do two coats to get a solid look. Sometimes the white or light color underneath keeps coming throught.
White trim halps to accent and frame the room by the way.

I say blue since it will bring out the blues in the pillow and other blues you have mixed in with your decor BUT I wouldnt go tooooooo blue, it will make the room look really dark and small.

The room is large and but dark. Almost no sun light.
Butter cream is well, like the color of the inside of a stick of butter when cut into it.
As for blue , I was thinking like a blue grey..

Ann,
Well blue gray is a very pretty color but you said your room doesnt get any or much sunlight so honestly a blue might not work too nicely. What about a butter cream as you mentioned, I am sure your primitive decor would fit in nicely since that's a very common color (stained muslin)... maybe you could put a blue gray type border at the top or a border with a darker blue in it (saltbox houses, etc.)?

I would go with butter cream or some kind of taupe. Can't go wrong there. Plus it just looks classy.

If it was me, I would put up a chair rail, using the federal blue on the bottom and butter cream on top. I just did our lr/dr this way using a brown on the bottom and a golden shade on top. When people come in they say it looks like a whole new house. The look changed everything! Oh, and one more thing, I would stick to bright white trim. It will really sharpen the blue and bring out your accents all the more!

Crown molding is more complicated to install than a chair rail (and more pricey).
I voted for blue. I think a soft blue to help keep the room feeling cooler. Laurie's dark blue idea sounds pretty inviting though.

If the room is a dark room- I'd go with the lighter color.. yet warm. I looked here and found 'soldier blue" but thought the 90% mix was a better hue.

I've attached the color blue I thought would look nice below a chair rail.. and buttercream above.
That will solve your decision... you've got both.
For the chair rail color.... I'd stick with the primitive pallet. You could even just do it in the buttercream you have for the wall already.
If you're going to do a crown molding... I'd match it with your chair rail whatever you choose for that color.
I don't know how tall your ceilings are- but if they are not over 8 feet- I'd be cautious to cut the room height with a chair rail AND crown. It will make it appear shorter. Its one or the other in that case. If tall ceilings... go for it.
I'm thinking you could paint the ceiling the buttercream as well... sort of makes the room appear to have more height- as long as no crown.
If you have your heart set on a crown... then eliminate the chair rail and paint one color on the wall. No WAIT!!! Paint one wall an accent color. 3 buttercream and 1 blue. with a crown molding to match your doors.
Gosh! I don't think I helped at all!
Can I come over!

Ann,
That sounds perfect
I cant wait to see pictures. One that note, be prepared for me to post a poll about my craft room, not sure what colors but am thinking a medium beige or buttercreme like you since my border has reds, blues, etc... Border is of sheep & saltbox houses, will post later about it.
