The best place to get home improvement needs?
DH and I discovered that we need to focus on three rooms in the house within at least the next six months:
The kitchen
The half bath
The master bath
Our kitchen needs the following done to it:
Plumbing replaced (there's leakage)
The faucet/sprayer replaced (or at least the sprayer since there's a break in the line)
The bottom of the cabinet (due to water leakage)
The half bath needs this done:
The sink replaced (there's a large set of the porcelain taken out of the top surface)
The vanity replaced
New lighting
The floor redone (from water damage due to toilet problems) including new tile
A new low-flow toilet
The ceiling vent (the kind you flip with a switch to turn it on)
The ceiling itself (from water damage upstairs - the main bath is right above it)
The main bath needs the following work:
The floor replaced (includes new tile)
The vanity replaced (includes new faucet for the sink and possibly new sink)
The ceiling vent replaced
I'm sure I'm missing something like new brackets for underneath the kitchen sink, caulking, etc but that's the jist of it. I know how expensive remodeling can be and we're looking at saving some cash but at the same time, not skimping on quality. We don't want peel and stick tile on the floors because that gave us problems too. We also have to replace the plumbing beneath the sink because that leakage is what caused our living room ceiling to have water damage marks and sagging.
Can anyone recommend a place that allows us to buy materials at cost within the middle man price additions? Thanks.

I'll bump this up for you. Maybe someone else will know.
Sorry, I don't know of anything about the availability of low cost items in Canada.
In the US there are some salvage stores that are kind of like 'scratch & dent'. There isn't normally anything wrong with the product but instead it is maybe an overstock or opened and not used item.
Be sure to get a good plumber and do check references and don't pay them before the job is done. We did that one time when a 'friend' did our work and he never finished the job. That was years ago and it cost around $800.00 to do what was similar to what you are needing done for your kitchen.
Good luck!"Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibity."

Habitat for Humanity has thrift stores in larger cities in the US where people donate surplus building supplies. Try their site or google.
