Default Frugal way to hide flat screen TV

I plan on buying a medium size flat screen TV soon. I hate the thought of it taking over the living room wall, but the solutions I have seen to hide them seem rediculously expensive.

Can anyone recommend a homemade or inexpensively purchased way to hide it when not in use?

a white or ecru muslin curtain with rings and two hooks? or on a rod?
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

As my adult Stepson said when I had the same dilemma:
"What are you afraid people will know you have a TV?"
Therefore the most frugal way is to not hide it at all! LOL

Well you could build a cabinet for it...but why? Do you hide your current TV?

Anyway - some particle board, wood glue, wood screws, hardware and paint, and you've got a custom cabinet waiting to be made.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

This doesn't hide our's but it was frugal. We have an old buffet (antique that has a small china cabinet that matches it---was already using this in my living room to house my beer stein collection) that we use to set our's on. We have storage for cd's, dvd's, tapes and family photos there as well. I bought both pieces at a garage sale a few years ago for $150.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I've also been searching for some time for a solution to this problem and so far this is the best idea I can come up with as well. Curtains would not look good in our living room and I can't just hang something in front of it because you can see behind it when you walk in the room, and it looks horrible. I have also considered building the box around it and putting something decorative on the front - like having some art on the front panel instead of just plain.

I want to cover mine because it does take over the room and is a constant distraction for the kids. Unfortunately, there are too many other more pressing projects at the moment for me to be building a giant box.

Maybe you could lock the TV on a nature channel in HiDef - then you'll have living art in the room, but it'll bore the kids.

He: Loves to watch football for hours.
She: Loves to snuggle up next to him looking into their artificial fireplace.

    Thus, the compromise...
