    Default Ripped our carpet out

Last night on a bit of an impulse we ripped the carpet out of the room we use as the playroom/office/guest room. It had to be at least 25 years old and our older dog has been going through a rough time recently with accidents...it was Disgusting!. My mom is coming for a visit this weekend and I could not even stand to walk into the room after this past weekend, much less let the children in to play.

So, DH and I moved the furniture, a neighbor stopped by and kidnapped the kids and a cranked on the job...finishing by 8:30. We've decided to put down the snap 'n' lock wood laminate, but not until later this fall. Until then I found a bunch of the foam letter mats (and my neighbor offered more she was going to get rid of) and have 'carpeted' the floor with those.

Even though it feels like we are living in a construction zone I am so happy to have our play area/office back.

Before you put anything down on top of the floor, get Killz oil based primer and put 1 or 2 good coats of it down on the floor. That will seal in any residual odors that would have leaked through the carpet and settled in.

Before you use the killz, you can also treat it with industrial strength odor neutralizer.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

That is a great idea Greebo I would also put down the Kilz on the floor to seal it. Putting down the laminate flooring is a real breeze and you will love it Amy. Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to pass that on to my husband. We do love the laminate we put down in the family room four years ago. DH and I were able to do it in just a few hours and it is so easy to keep clean with young kids & dogs.
