Need Ideas to Make A Tired Washer Look Better
I got a really good deal on a used washer GE spacesaver washer and it works good. But the thing is sooo ugly and beat up. It came from a household of smokers so the thing isn't white... it's beige. The plastic fold-in half hinged lid has a cigarette burn mark in it that probably won't be fixable. There are paint chips and scratches. It looks like it fell of the back of the truck there's so many scratches. The original label is still on it... half peeled off and yellowed.
I am so tired of looking at it. And unfortunately our laundry room is in a small alcove between the kitchen and bathroom and there is no way to hang a door or curtain there since it's just a corner of a hallway/room kinda thing. Everyone that comes over and uses the bathroom or comes into my kitchen sees my ugly washer....UGH.
It's so ugly I thought of jokingly taking multiple (rainbow) colors and just spraying it a mish-mash of designs and colors!!
Does any one have any ideas how I could paint it or clean it to make it look better?Kim

They sell paint just for those things...I'd call my local home improvement store and ask what to buy.

They do make a corner curtain rod. Could you hang one of those or would it be too weird?

Yep, just paint it. I painted my white refrigerator black, and it looks pretty good! They make special appliance spray paint that should be available at your home improvement store. Take it outside to paint, you'll be glad you did. I'd also take the door off if you can and paint it separately, then tape/newspaper off the opening to prevent paint from getting inside. Be sure to tape any chrome or other handles/knobs that you don't want painted. Spray everything standing up vertically for a better finish.
The more taping & prep work you do, the more professional-looking the outcome will be. I did this with the refrigerator doors, and the lack of overspray made it barely noticeable that it was painted.

What Pianolady said. I too have used appliance paint to redo a fridge and it turned out pretty nicely. There are also paints specifically made for plastics these days.

You could also spray paint chalkboard paint on the front and make it a message board.

I like the painting ideas listed but if you want to try one last clean to see how it looks..
You can try those magic erasers.
You wont believe what they will pull off appliances!
They can clean off scratches, marks, stains, all of that.
Wont help with dents of course
