Material for slip covers?
I need to have slip covers made for my rocker/glider and ottoman and was wondering if maybe I could use sheets or a blanket if I find the right color I want?
It won't be myself who's making them [don't know how to sew] but will be paying someone to do them for me.
Right now I don't have a lot of money to spend and want to do them as frugally as possible but still have them look nice, etc.
Oh yeah and it'd need to be something that was easily washable 'cuz my cat has problems with her stomach and throws up a lot.
Thanks for any help with this!

I've used sheets for slipcovers with no problem. A more sturdy and still economical solution would be denim or duck cloth.

I have used jersey knit sheets for my couch and it's really soft and comfortable.I have also used bedspreads.

~I would not use sheets because they wear too quickly and won't adequately protect your couch cushions from any accidents. If I need to make slipcovers for my couch, I've already decided to use canvas. Walmart sells very large(like 9X12 feet!), latte colored drop clothes in the painting sections for really great prices. I figured out the price per yard to be around $3-6 depending on what width you're comparing it to. You may need ALOT of fabric! This chart may give you an idea if you're planning an upholstered slipcover look. http://www.slipcovershop.com/All_Sli...upholstery.gif In their estimator, each 9X12 drop cloth would equal 8 yds. Here's a similar product on Amazon. Good Morning!
Sorry I didn't get back to check this yesterday but kept busy with things here that needed done.
Thanks so much for your help ... the charts are really gonna be helpful too 'cuz I had no idea how much material I'd need to have.
I called the lady who is going to do them and right now she's doing a wedding dress but said she'll give me a call the first part of the week so it'll give me time to do some looking around.
Thanks again!

I sew slipcovers all the time. I use outdoor type fabrics (canvas) or I go to the bargain wall of the fabric store and pick up deeply discounted drapery/upholstery fabric. I rarely pay more than $3.49/m.
