    Default Dishsoap in Dishwasher

DONT DO IT! Even if you are out of dishwasher soap and dont want to buy more.

I had bubbles everywhere. I ended up having to put salt and vinager in it and run the load again.

When you run out of soap what do you use in its place?

I think the homemade recipe is borax and washing soda. I don't know the measurements though.

Oh my....I remember my dad doing that once when I was maybe 8. It was hilariously disastrous.

ETA: Now that I re-read yours it doesn't sound that bad. When he did it, he added LOTS to make sure it worked...we're talking about the entire kitchen floor flooded with bubbles.

Ratio of borax to baking soda is 1:1. Easy to remember. You can use white vinegar in the rinse compartment, as well.

Don't feel badly. My sister did that once with my mom's dishwasher. We had a carpetted kitchen. I hope you don't.

I've been tempted to try it since I've always heard not to do it but I wasn't sure of the why behind it.

But now that I know, I won't try it.

LOL I remember my oldest ds calling me about six years ago in a panic. He had bubbles everywhere. Took him most of the night to clean it up.

My DD4 was having so much fun playing with the bubbles and that I think is why I was not more upset. How can you be when a child is having so much fun.

I have used dishwashing soap in my dishwasher, and it worked ok. I only used about a teaspoon, though.

Dh did that once, about 2 years ago when I was in bed with the flu (that turned into pneumonia). I went downstairs, lights were off in the kitchen to get a glass of water. I was standing there thinking "why does the dishwasher sound so funny?" turned on a light and couldn't believe how I could walk through the bubbles and not know it! I was SSOOOOOO mad! It took forever (remember, i had the flu) to clean that up. Dh helped but I was so sick, he was just making me feel worse.
