Default Getting frustrated with flylady---does this method work for any FV-ers?

Previous to trying FL, I did what my mom used to do---cleaned two rooms a day, and just kept working around the house in that fashion. Especially when I was raising kids, that worked well. That, and constantly picking up, lol.

I have been using FL's ideas for about 4 years, off and on, mostly on. I like the concept, but I find that I'm really not staying ahead of the mess like I'd like. And there is just DH and me! I don't 'subscribe', meaning I didn't sign up---I just follow the area she's on and do Kelly's missions. I heard too much about all the emails and confusing directions. No thanks.

Anyway, I'm thinking about going back to two-rooms-a-day cleaning. I know everyone has to 'tweak' things to work for them.

    What are your experiences?

I'm still on step one -- Shine your sink...

As soon as I can find it, I will be sure to shine it on up

Actually, I am a Fly-flunkie... I have made it a few days on it... fail... start over again.

For me, it's too un-intense... if that makes sense... doing 15 minutes a day won't even make a dent... after I do some major flingage, I am sure I can FLY better
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I only got as far as the sink, as well. I still use that tip occasionally, and it looks beautiful afterward. Now the rest of the house....

I'm thinking of trying your mom's method, too!! I like it!

much as I love flylady I had to unsubscribe 'cos of the amount of daily e-mail's I felt like I was behind all the time-but I've found now that even my sink isn't shiny anymore so I'm going to check out the mommies site-I am a procrastinator and always seem to need motivation

Thumbs up I do a combination...

of Flylady and Organized home (isn't it interesting how so many of us tend to "gravitate" to the same areas, but I am going to look at the mommy site. Take care and God bless.

I find that it's difficult to do 15 minutes every day consistently -- I more often have an hour once or twice a week that I need to use effectively.

    Thabnks for the links, all!

Like some of you (Lady V and ritabelle) I find I do better when I can make the time to do some intense cleaning for a longer time.

I am VERY good at putting anger/resentment/frustration to good use for cleaning purposes. When I'm mad about something, or doing a slow burn---watch out! You could eat off my floors.

I have tried Flying a few times over the years and I do ok for a little while and then I just total fail. Actually right now I am totally flunking on keeping my house clean at all. I am trying to figure out a good system that will keep me on track. But I have days--sometimes weeks where I do well to get laundry done and a little cooking. I used to be almost a perfectionist about my home before I became sick and now my home just makes me sick.

I sometimes will do the FlyLady system, but hers actually seems like too much work to me. I never get it all done and then still have that guilty feeling. I like doing the Holiday Grand Plan and I just modify it after the holidays and repeat the process throughout the year to keep the rooms clean. It is here: Holiday Grand Plan.

Thanks for the link to Just mommies. I am going to try it.

I have used FlyLady for years and seldom can keep up with the work and for sure can't keep up with the emails.

I used to use Organized home until she shut down the forums. Now she just writes articles. Holiday Plan is always good but I haven't even tried to do anything special this year.

I followed it exactly for 2 months or so. Then started tweaking it to better suit my needs. I really wish more of her daily missions applied to me, I enjoyed having a guide for what to do next. But I don't have clutter or lots of stuff, which seems to be what the system depends on. I am glad that I did it, figured out my routines, and have been able to stick to those.

This was exactly what my problem with flylady was, I don't have clutter and lots of stuff, if I tried to fill as many bags with garbage as she's always asking, we'd be walking around naked in an empty building. I could never stand the mess of her site either. Figuring her system out always seemed like more work than cleaning the house.

I can keep up with some aspects, but at others I am horrible! I do laundry in the morning and in the evening, I change my sheets each Saturday, and pack lunches for the week on Sunday (my spin-off) but that's where the success ends. I try and clean my bathrooms each Saturday while the kids are in their tub. I, too, am successful for a little while and then fall apart. With one child, I was able to maintain my house MUCH better. I beat myself up about it sometimes, but ultimately it is not that important to me or I'd make it more of a priority.
