Default Ugh. Blue crayon on Flat Paint?

    Is there any hope?

We just moved into a new place, and my two year old found a blue crayon and made a pretty picture behind his door. Trying to wipe it off smeared it...

    Any ideas?

    P.S. New here! Hi!!

As a mom to two boys...I can give you two pieces of advice here as I am a seasoned veteran of wall/crayon removal!

First, don't try a magic eraser on flat paint! Works great on glossy surfaces though, if you ever have crayon on glossy paint, windows, appliances, etc!

The best thing I have found to remove crayon from walls is toothpaste and a toothbrush! Just be sure to use the actual paste kind and not the gel kind!

Hopefully that works for you! If not, you can try hairspray, too...just don't use hairspray on a white wall, becuase it'll slightly discolor the white, but it works well on any other color and doesn't leave a stain!

    Good luck!

Here are several things I have seen:

You can try rubbing it with bread. That will remove it sometimes.

Dampen a white cloth and sprinkle it with baking soda. Do not overload the cloth with baking soda to avoid a goopy mess being applied to the wall. Wipe the wall vigorously. Change the cloth often to avoid re-applying the crayon to the wall.

Vinegar - soak a toothbrush in white vinegar and scrub marks off.

Rubbing Alcohol - Saturate part of a clean cloth then rub stains.

Moist Baby Wipe Towelettes - Rub them directly on the crayon stains and scrub markings off.

My niece when she was about two decided to use crayon on her wall. I used baking soda and water. Had to scrub for a few minutes but it did the trick!

Ah! Thanks gals!!! =) I will try a few of those ideas.
Bread huh? Just reminded me I need to pick some up after work!!

I have two older children who NEVER wrote on walls (and not from a lack of crayons laying around). Nic is our special, dare-devil, always testing, love of a boy. =)

I have heard that foam shaving cream also works well. You could probably also take a blow dryer and low heat to the wall - crayon is basically just wax, right?

WD40 will take it right off. Follow up with a little dish soap to remove greasy residue.
