What Can you Get Rid of Today?

So, is there something that you've been on the fence about getting rid of? I think today is the day that you should get rid of it. You can sell it, freecycle it, or if it is something that no one else would want, trash it. I'm not talking a scrap of paper here, but something, perhaps medium sized that right now, is just taking up space.

I'm leaving for school in a minute or two, but when I come home, that is my task. I'm going to find something around here that need to go, and I'll take a picture and post.

So, share with us, what are you willing to part with today?

dh and I had that very discussion this past weekend.

I have to empty 'my room' so we can gut it, to install the furnace vents in the ceiling, and then totally renovate it into an office and my craft room.

so this is what I'm getting rid of, not just today but all week

    -sewing desk
-all my magazines (its easy to look what I need up online instead of flipping through a dozen issues)
-purge the cloth (gave 3 garbage bags of material yesterday to a charity)
-big box of craft stuff I'll never do
    -large box of BOOKS

and *sob* cookbooks. I gave a HUGE box away yesterday

I went through all my fabric this morning and tossed all the scraps that I'd been saving, thinking I would need them...but in reality, they were too small to do anything with! I ended up with a whole garbage bag full I'd been saving them for awhile!

I also went to plug in my humidifier last night to get some moisture in the house and it was broken (like unfixable, leaked all over the floor broken), so that is going out in the garbage today too!

I'm picking up and cleaning today, and was actually thinking about tackling my bedroom closet...so I might have more stuff to get rid of, we'll see how far I get!

You guys are doing great! As for me, tonight I'm going to list my steamer on eBay. I haven't used it in over 10 years. I may only get $5.00 for it, but it'll be something and it's taking up valuable space in my cupboard. I'm thinking about selling the George Foreman grill as well, but I feel like I might use it again. The steamer, I'm pretty sure I won't.

I just tossed an old humidifier too! yay!

this purging of stuff that you "think you'll use" is really quite liberating. I didn't realize how much stuff I had til I started getting rid of everything.

You guys are making me want to search my house. I know that I have a twin box spring in my basement hallway that has been collecting dust for the past two months. I should take a picture of it while I'm thinking about it and try to sell it on a free local advertising website. Thanks!

Several Xfiles movies on VHS. They've been collecting dust for a while, and I would have gotten rid of them yesterday, but I needed to ask Dave first since they were his.
