Default I am in <3 with white vinegar.

    Seriously!

I just spent the last hour cleaning the bathroom. I used half hot water, half white vinegar on my shower walls. Oh my God! Not only did it get rid of all the hard water stains, but it made my shower so sparkling clean! I wiped the walls down with my ShamWow and proceeded to clean the faucet. It's so great that I cleaned my entire bathroom with white vinegar, hot water, a rag and some paper towels to do the mirror and the counter top.

Yeah, I'm never buying another fancy cleaning product again. Forget that!

If we keep hearing such good news and keep spreading the word, P&G is on the list of companies in trouble. Not only is vinegar GREAT stuff, it's environmentally safe and dirt cheap.

    Keep up the good work!

    Haha!

Nah there will always be those unfortunate souls who spend money on things they really don't need to.

Welcome to the vinegar cleaners club. Once you convert you don't go back.

I love cleaning with my vinegar.

    I have a funny story.

Once I came home from the store with vinegar chips, pickles, basically several impulse buys of vinegar foods.

Hubby laughed and pointed out it was time to clean again. I guess my mind knew that and started me craving vinegar. Hubby said the next time I craved vinegar chips I should clean first to see if that cures the craving. It did. LOL

I keep gallons of vinegar on hand for cleaning. I've also learned it's the best thing to use with hot water in my carpet cleaner for really taking out pet odors and getting out greasy stains from DH's boots instead of those sudsy and expensive carpet cleaner solutions that never work as well as they should. Plus the whole house smells great after I clean the carpets!

I will have to try vinegar on the shower. I already use it for lots of other things. Thanks for the tip!

I have used vinegar for years and love it! I use it on lots of things, I don't like the vinegar smell so I add a few drops of scented oils (like for soaps or candles, etc) and it makes the house smell so good so I don't need to use any fresheners anywhere either.

    LOL

The funny thing is that I was taking YDS to school earlier and he goes, "Mommy, why do I smell vinegar?" I thought I washed my hands pretty well but he could still smell it!

Yeah I don't forsee myself buying any more fancy cleaners. The amount of money that I spend on one bottle of all-purpose cleaner is the same as a large jug of vinegar and I get at least a month's worth of shower cleanings (if I clean it each week) out of 400ml of vinegar and 400ml of hot water. All I need is a scrub brush, a juice container to fill with hot water as a rinse, and my vinegar/water spray bottle! This stuff is also a ton better on my breathing. There's no harsh fumes like I'd have with CLR, Fantastik or anything else like that.

The only thing I need to do now is make some calcium-removing cleanser. There's a ton of calcium buildup around the knobs on the faucets.

I use vinegar to remover calcium build up. It is great for that. I use straight not diluted vinegar. It needs to sit on the calcium for a while. So I either fill a cup with it and hang it so it is soaking in it like the shower head. Or soak a rag in straight vinegar and let the rag sit on it for a while. If it still seems to need scrubbing (instead of just wiping) I use baking soda or salt to scrub it.

Then cleaning it with vinegar will keep the calcium from building up also.

Oh thank you so much! I'm going to have to give that a shot later on when I go up and finish cleaning the upstairs. You're such a doll!

I sometimes let it soak overnight.

Does anyone know if it will get rid of the calcifications that form on your toilets/sinks from hard water. So far, only lime away or CLR works for me, and I really hate buying that stuff. I hate that it is harsh chemicals and I hate that it is so expensive.

That is what I use vinegar for.

I use it straight and let it soak overnight.

I posted how I do it a few post up.

It works better for us than CLR or lime away that we tried before.

It does take a few times if it has really built up but once you have cleaned it up the vinegar works really at keeping it away too.
