Your ahhhh room?
What room does it for you? When looking for a home or just looking for decorating ideas, what one room just has to have that ahhh factor when you see it? For me it is the kitchen. If the kitchen doesn't pass I don't even care about the rest of the house.

For me it is also the kitchen. It is where I spend my most time.

The bedroom, it's the space my husband and I share to get away from the world. I like a bed that's soft and billowy, a bed that begs to be sunk into after a long day. A room free of clutter and unfolded laundry so there's no mental distraction. Soft inviting lighting that's easy to read a book in, or cuddle with hubby.

the bedroom. i don't allow clutter in there and switch out the decorating items frequently to keep the look fresh.

11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Kitchen. It must be functional and attractive and completely clutter free. Don't want to have to move stuff around to cook or eat!

Yep, me too. The kitchen. But I also don't want the tiny 'closet' bedrooms.
And along with the ahhhh factor I also look very closely at storage space.....everywhere...closets, kitchen, etc.

There are a couple major points on my list. The kitchen has to be functional and meet certain requirements for storage and use. I could care less if the counters are marble or veneer. Actually, I don't want marble, it is too porous and will stain eventually. All the glass block tile and stainless appliances won't make up for not having a space for the breadmaker or not being able to get my sheet pans into the cabinet.
I need a home with good light and windows. Dark houses and interior rooms make me depressed. And I think it's easier to keep a clean decluttered house when you can't hide stuff in dark corners.
Finally, I abhor wasted space. I've been in so many homes that have odd nooks and corners where you can't really put a table or anything, it's just several square feet of awkward, wasted space. A good architect can work that space into a closet or a living area where it can be used. As an example, our entry area is 9x10, but because of where the door is and where the stairs are placed there isn't room for even a small table to put the mail on when you come into the house. Our neighbor's house has a slightly different arrangement and as a result their livingroom is 4 feet wider than ours.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown
