Default How do you organize and store cards

I've got some in folders, drawers, even in a plastic container in the garage with some extra sentimental things.

Obviously I need a system. Part of spring cleaning is my nightstands and there is a few in there. I am one of those people that like to keep cards and date them.

    So what works for you?

Time for a reality check.... If these cards are TRULY worthy of such affection and sentimentality, then they deserve more attention and better care than what you are showing them. With the overwhelming numbers you are conveying, it looks like you are storing things that really need to be relegated to the recycling bin. They ALL can't be that wonderful and special - because you've lost control of them. We normally don't lose control of things that really matter to us. We lose control of things we fail to make decisions about.

Pick the "special" ones, place them in a (as in ONE) special container, file, or a pretty box, and get rid of the rest. Your family will thank you when they go through your belongings years from now.

In all sincerity and out of concern, is this the only area of your life you have a problem "letting go?" It may be a cause for concern if it's a bigger problem than just cards when it comes to memories, emotions, decisions and choices.

I have to say; we don't. We have even gotten to the point where we only send to people who would value them. Our kids do not. WE call people or e-mail. We actually toss all of them. Very different than when I was younger.

Yes. I keep every card given to any of us. They are all placed in a scrapbook using photo tab corners so they can be opened and read at any time without damaging them. they take up very little space and are nice to look at from time to time. I also have letters my grandmother and grandfather wrote to each other when he was away at war put away in the scrapbook.

I feel like if someone took the time to pick out, sign and mail the card to us it is worth keeing to us.

Hold up! You are reading a little more into my post here than what I meant! I know where all my cards are, they are just not organized like *I* would like them to be. Just because they are not organized, does not mean they don't mean anything to me. And yes many, many are pretty darn special.

Now, let me clear something up... I don't keep every single ones like a 'generic' one, but the ones from my kids, family, friends, etc, I keep.

I find it actually fun to go back through my box years later and laugh about that time or remember that special time in my life. And if you knew me, I don't keep clutter and my house is neat. This area needs to be organize. Just asking for the people that keep them is all, how they organize them because this is the proper forum to ask that. Geesh.

Last year we did a Christmas card swap on this site and I still have the villagers cards and they are in my folder in my china cabinet with the others.

I don't have a collection of anything so I didn't think keeping cards was such a big deal. I know many people that do! So there is my reality check. Thanks for the anology.

Oh, and I am known for not being a pack rat! I am always cleaning out so I am sure when I am old, my family WILL thank me for keeping on top of things.
