Electronic Purge
Okay, so I'm guessing that many of you are good purgers of the stuff in your home, but not so conscious of the "stuff" that you have hanging out there in cyberspace.
So, tonight, take a few moments and go to your e-mail. Delete what you don't need in your Inbox. Go to your Sent Items folder and delete that as well. Then, go delete your deleted items so they are gone, gone, GONE forever!
Have more than one e-mail account? Clear them ALL out!
While you are at it, if you use the Frugal Village private messaging system, purge there as well. Purge your sents and purge your inbox. The village keeps getting busier and busier. We don't want it bogged down by messages we should have deleted long ago!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Oh, wow! Finally a post I can feel virtuous about! I hate computer clutter as much as house clutter and tend to delete this stuff, sometimes even too soon. The only thing that needs attention is the sent queue in my work e-mail. I'll attend to it tomorrow. Today I'm still on vacation.

Too funny, Donna!
I'm a big e-mail deleter as well. Normally, it isn't an issue, but every now and then someone will ask me for something and I'll have deleted it already.

I probably have more cyberspace clutter than real life clutter, and I have a lot of that! A purge is definitely in order. Thanks for the reminder

I'm a freak about it too! I already cleaned my mailbox out over the weekend . . . what I really need is a digital picture purge. It is ridiculous how many unusable pics we have--blurry, overexposed, etc. I just never find the time to go through it. AND, I need to get some pics printed of my littlest one. I have none that we've taken--just from the studio. I need to start her scrapbook. I am a serious slacker.

Spent about 18 hours on the weekend doing emails. Inbox is empty, folders are gone so that I can never let it get that way again. Everything related to logins, account numbers and license keys has been added into 1password, messages with important info, receipts and letters from my grandma have been filed in devonthink, and any interesting articles have been clipped out of newsletters and filed.
Bookmarks are done in firefox, just have to do safari now.
Freed up about about 3gig in emails.
My files are in 5 different devonthink databases, the bigger ones are done (did last month) the two smallest need work. I'll do that this week.
Deleted my oldest daughter's account (transferred her files to her new computer last month)
removed some applications, emptied trash, downloads, some temp files. I've cleared about 15 gigs altogether.
The kids accounts really need to be cleaned up, as well as everyone's iTunes.

My email box currently has 20,545 unread emails. Yeah, you read that right. I got enrolled in a bunch of junk stuff and just don't delete them. I'm off to do some now. I'll update shortly.

Hahaha, I am down to 2949 now. I have yet to find anything I felt like keeping. I clicked to sort them alpha by sender and it making it go super fast that way. I am on a Freecycle and Local Bargains list and they send a couple dozen a day sometimes.

Mahalo for this suggestion - need to do this in many areas!!
