How Often Do you Clean Your Fridge?
How often do you do a total empty and scrub-out cleaning of your refrigerator? As often as you should, or only when you notice you can't get the milk out because it's stuck to the shelf?

when milk is stuck to the shelf. that made me laugh
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I clean in out in chunks.
Like when one shelf is dirty, I might clean that one and the one below it. Or when one part of the door is gross, I;ll clean that and the whole thing. Or one bin gets dirty, and I'll cleean them all.
But I've never cleaned the whole thing all at once, except for when I move.
welllll......there was the spilled kool aid that one time...........

Geez. Why do people keep asking such embarrassing questions on this forum?

WHAT? Completely? Like all at once? I'll also have to go with "when I move."
Partially? At desperate need. Like when the defrosing chicken unexpectedly drips. Or, ok, when the milk sticks to the shelf. It's just not high on my housecleaning radar, I guess. After all, I only have to look at it when I open the door for a moment.
Oh! Idea! I could take out the light bulb and make it even less urgent!

lol! I usually clean it when it is close to empty before I grocery shop. That seems to work best for me.

When I can no longer view the contents of the shelf below through the glass - it's time!!!
Serioously, though, I do get mildew-stuff on the rubber gasket parts which requires a q-tip dipped in bleach every month or so.

I'm a poor housekeeper, but trying to improve. When it comes to the fridge, I only get around to it every 2 or 3 months, I guess, and do a total cleaning. This way I can run hot, soapy water in the laundry room sink and actually immerse the shelves and drawers so any sticky food residue is easily cleaned.

Every other month on Mon. I yell refridgerator clean out day and 3 dogs come running. they gets bits of cheese that have a little freezer burn and the ends of bread, last pieces of lunchmeat etc. Then I put up a card table and put on my worst shirt. I gut it. Bleach the insides w/ spray bleach and then 2 rinses w/ spray water. Ironically it was on for tomorrow but apple picking was pushed back so i may not do it. We seem to spill a lot. And I am paranoid one of my family will eat old food. DH and I got into a tug of war over oold chinese. 2 days in my limit on take out leftovers. He was mAAAAd when i trashed it.

About every two or three months I take everything apart and turn the fridge off. I take everything out and put it on the counters. I clean it with baking soda and dish soap. I scrub everything. I dry it very well and I sometimes rearrange the shelves for a different look when putting it all back together.(ocd, heh) I wipe down all products like jelly and ketchup, etc.
I always just wipe things down as I see them, but it sometimes needs a serious overhaul and I like it shiney.
It's due right now.
