Clutter, i'm breaking up with you...
I'm on a big clutter purge!
I'm done with the random boxes that I've hauled around for the last 10 years, that haven't been open sense I packed them so long ago. I'm done with the over stuffed closet of clothes that 90% of them I don't wear anymore.
With a 1 1/2 year old and all the 'stuff' that comes with him, and expecting again in the spring, I really want to get thru all the crud before the next one comes.
SO! Today I'm really going thru the closet, our bedroom and the laundry room. All things not needed anymore will be going in the ever growing garage sale pile.
Next up on the list:
Entry way
Upstairs Hallway
Son's room
Guest room #1
guest room #2
See ya clutter, don't come again...

Good for you. We did the decluttering after our daughter got married and moved out. Now mind you alot went with her, but I went crazy getting rid of stuff.
One room to go and I am finally done purging.

I am doing the same. Today I did the hall closet. I know that doesn't sound like much but it's a big closet with boxes and boxes of junk.
I have two piles, donate and throw away. Really very little will be staying. The peace of an orderly house is worth more to me then the junk.

Good for you! You'll feel great when it's all done.
This weekend I've been cleaning out DH's closet. It contains assorted items related to his job and hobbies in addition to clothes and shoes. I rearranged, threw a few things away, am putting a few clothes in a donate box and have made labels for several bins.
Next comes my closet, which is overrun with clothes in many different sizes, etc. This is where I have difficulty making decisions.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I got our closet and bedroom done today, as well as the kitchen table. I can't believe how much junk mail and random 'trash' there was just sitting around! I did get 2 large bags of garage sale clothes and another big bag of trash to be tossed! yay!!
Tomorrow will be the kitchen/laundry room.. and MAYBE the pantry if I can swing it.. but at least the kitchen and laundry area..

Yay!A goal is just a dream without a plan to achieve it. --My friend Aimee

I have been trying and trying to get this done in addition to working and regular household chores and am finding is slow going! That is what ruins the process for me, not having a decent chunk of time to work on it.
I have done a lot, donated a lot, but the problem now is I am pretty much down to what I need/want to keep and no more place to store anything.
We are going to be building a garage, but hubby is doing the work himself so it will take months before it is done. An extra bedroom is where I have been storing EVERYTHING!!!! Well now with the grandkids come toys, stroller (double size), 2 pack n plays, rocky horses, push toys. Not a lot but with twins there is two of everything LOL. This room is going to be a play room/guest room. Some friends of ours gave us a really nice loveseat size sofa sleeper. The room is not very big, so that and a large shelf unit are really the only furniture in there but I have nowhere to go with several plastic storage containers and assorted odd stuff with no place to go. But it is not stuff I want to get rid of. Good luck on your purging sounds like you are on a roll!

Keep it up with the clutter purge. It always feels great to walk into a closet or room and not have all the extras weighing you down.

EthansMom - mahalo for starting this thread - great impetus for me too. I am decluttering every day and slowly things are coming together, but I cannot afford to stop.
Love to hear the steps you are taking!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
