ladykemma2, thanks for updating us on the changes you have been making. I always seem to be envious of homes where there is a minimalist approach....me being the self-appointed queen of clutter in my home....there's just something about living spaces that are clutter-free that is so peaceful, calming, beautiful, to me....and of course they appear more clean and spacious, which is also nice.

update: i bit the bullet and hired my neighbor, who does home repair and custom carpentry. he installed crown moulding in the brown bath, a custom georgian style mirror over the mantel and chair railing in the great room and his team prepared the room to paint tomorrow. the cathedral celings require scaffolds.

it's fascinating that they spent an entire day just prepping to paint, caulking, nail holes, masking, dirt removal, scaffold setup.

no wonder my paint jobs come out looking bad!

the great room will be bright yellow over the chair rail and shiny white below the chair rail. white crown moulding and trim.

i had money in home repair sinking funds. no point in being miserable.

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

i decided to hire a contractor to fix, paint and repair.

no wonder i was overwhelmed. it has taken a team of three men 4 days so far to fix this house. They aren't done yet.

Yup, know the feeling. Was vacuuming this morning and out of the corner of my eye could see my sofa. The first thought was, this is beat, I need to save up for a new sofa!!
