I was laughing at her lawyer -- "If we did to BOA what they did to my client, we'd be in jail for 10 years". He was trying to emphasize the importance of their error, but it just came across very silly.

Anyway, I agree, BOA made an error, and she should sue them, as she is doing, and will likely get a nice settlement out of court.

Wow - and to think...we're supposedly to trust financial institutions like this? Abuse of power perhaps?

What about the couple that paid cash for their home?! WTH!?!

I don't understand why they got to trash the place and do the extreme stuff they do. That just drives the cost up!

Unbelievable. I hope she ends up with the bank paying off her mortgage and giving her the title outright. She deserves that much at least.

I'm not a big fan of the "some company messed up so they have to make the person rich" theory, but she definitely needs to be compensated for *everything* they took from her.

That includes not only the damage to her property, but also the time she had to spend fighting this. She should be able to estimate how many hours and be paid at a very generous hourly rate. Maybe the same as your average BoA executive?

B.O.A. just floors me. They are the owners of a home foreclosed here in Urbandale and they sent in payment for the water bill. (All of this is public record). They overpaid by approximately 700$ and after 3 days of arguing on the phone with them about how this money was not owed, they told us that it was for a property in California and we could just apply it to that account. Uh, hello? We are in IOWA....not CALIFORNIA. We could not get them to understand that not every water utility in the country is linked.

Unbelievable! Why would they cut water lines, etc? Even if the woman had really foreclosed, that's stupid (and mean!). BOA should be ashamed!

I wonder if they meant the home was winterized when they foreclosed it. She lives in PA, winters there get pretty frigid and many banks have the homes winterized to prevent the water pipes from freezing and bursting.

The process includes capping the water line, removing the meter making it impossible for water to go into the home's interior plumbing?

I can't imagine why they would actually CUT the water line because that would result in some decent expenses on their end to repair, on a home they would want to resale to recoup their monies?
