In the summer when you turn it on you will feel breeze if its turning the right way.

I didn't even know you were supposed to run them differently for heat vs. AC. Learn something new each day, thanks!

On the fan body there should be a switch that has two positions.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Ceiling Fan Spinning Counter-Clockwise: Makes a room cooler by blowing the air downward. When the fan is spinning in a counter-clockwise direction you should feel a cool breeze coming down and around the room.

Ceiling Fan Spinning Clockwise: Makes a room warmer by creating subtle updraft which pushes the warm air near the ceiling down along the walls and into the room. When the fan is spinning in a clockwise direction you should not feel as much of a breeze.

Good info and it reminded me that I have to clean mine before I turn them on and dustbunnies hop on my shoulders!!

Checked the bedroom ceiling fans tonight

One fan went clockwise to cool.

Hubby said it has to do with how the blades are on the fan. It has something to so with the slant of the blades.

I sent hubby the link about switching this. He emailed me back and said: This is common knowledge.

I emailed him back and asked: If this is common knowledge why have we never done it?

I came home and all of our fans were switched!

I will definately have to check my fans when I get home. I'll also have to dust them!

Be sure to dust them BEFORE you switch positions.
I learned this the hard way.
Flipped the switch, turned on the fan, and watched it blow dust bunnies all over the room!!
