Default Your Favourite and Least Favourite Features of your House

No house is perfect so we all have to make sacrifices when we choose one.

For example, our big dilemma is location - we would like an easy commute, space, and a reasonable price - unfortunately that is not possible, so we need to decide which two are most important.

What options did you need to weigh, which ones won, and are you happy with your choices? Is there anything you wish you had decided differently?

Favorite feature: large covered back deck.
Least favorite feature: all the rest of it. It's small, dark, the stairs are too steep, the kitchen is tiny, there's not enough storage. I've often thought if we could win one of those $100,000 home remodel contests I would just have a new home built. (You can for that price, here)

We chose to live here because it was free (DH inherited it).

My favorite features are the price of the mortgage, size of the house and garage, and parking space. I also really like my bathrooms. They are just right. I only wish the kids' bathroom had a closet in it. Least favorite features: rock yard, too small of a yard, sloping driveway and front yard, location, water is icky and expensive, son's bedroom was an add-on and I don't like that the original outer wall is in his room still. Not much I can do about that last one. I also wish that the shed which was added on was done better and was more usable. It will probably cost me a lot of money to turn it into a real workable room.

I love my house! We literally looked at HUNDREDS of houses. I got most everything I wanted in this house. The only thing I would change would be to have a bigger back yard. BUT since we plan to retire and die here, a small yard will be easier to maintain in our "golden" years.

Location, location, location. I love where we are in proximity to our needs. 1/2 acre lot and good flat space. And the house has tons of light/windows so we never turn lights on....
We were fortunate in that we found our dream house and really made few compromises.
The only thing I don't like is the finish on my wood floors. They always look dirty and smudgy....we'll have them refinished in a few years (house is 8 years old)

I like the location. Close to school and lots of other things. I like the size, 2000 sq ft. I don't like all the different floors...5. I don't like the older layout...choppy. I don't like the paint of the cabinet...faux finish. Good thing is though, those 3 things can and will be changed.

We've been here 4 years and we've changed the roof, the AC, exteriors support columns and repainted the exterior. It looks so much better on the outside!

location is great cause it's the mountains, location stinks cause it's so far from everything. location is great because it's out of the valley heat and rat race, location stinks because it's dark, gloomy, and isolating.........

love the house, however..... except that my laundry is in the basement, and I like it next to the kitchen

I like the location of the our house, it is close to a lot of things, shopping, medical, the beach, and only an hour away from Orlando.

The view could be better, we have a nice yard and all just that's it. I would love a water view of some kind. The room sizes are fine. I would love a differernt size and shape kitchen one with a very large pantry/food storage area and also an inside laundry as ours is in the garage now.

I like our front yard landscaping, but would like to amp it up some. We do add a little each year though. I would add some stone work to the front if I had the money.

You know it! I'm thinking of moving as far out as possible and living off the land. The next time you see me I may be sleeping with the wolves

We always wanted to live on the water but thought we'd never be able to afford it. We were looking for a bigger house with at least 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms and big kitchen but we settled for 3 bed 1 bath and small non eat in kitchen so we could live here. I'm glad we settled tho, this smaller house suits us just fine, especially since it's just hubby the cat, dog & I now.

I've got a few favorite features:

    *It's all on one floor
*the washer and dryer are on the same floor as the living quarters
*the kids each have their own room
*iron baseboard steam heat, not hot forced air
*it's location, corn fields in front of us, corn fields in back of us
    *It's close to in-laws

    Not so favorite features:

*it only has one bathroom and it's falling apart before our very eyes. Had been listed as a two bathroom, but the other "bathroom" is unusable. It literally is a toilet in the middle of an unfinished basement that someone built a wooden surround around and a pipe sticking out of the cinder block walls that supposed to be the shower. Think your worst camping experience ever! We've NEVER used it!

*A very small galley kitchen that is like our bathroom is falling apart before our very eyes.

*it's an extremely small house, less then 750 square feet of living space.

    *no air

Love my kitchen and bath. Love that I live on a court. Also love the city I live in. Would like my bedrooms, lr and fr a little larger so I could change the furniture around. And would love to live on larger property so I could have a larger garden.
