    Default Built in Storage

Does anyone have built in shelving in their home? Mainly thinking of bookshelves or china cabinets - the ones that are recessed into the wall (or made to look that way). I'm also interested in window seats with storage. If so, I would love to see pictures.

We are still thinking of building (all options are open at this point) and if we do, I want to have smart storage built into the house. If we decide to do it, I'm going to need pictures of examples.

In our smallest bedroom I added a window seat and bookshelves. The "seat" top lifts up and there is plenty of storage in there. If I can get the camera to work, I'll post pictures. I love it, I keep extra pillows and blankets in mine but it would be a great "toy box" for a kids playroom.

We have built in dressers in our bedrooms. They are handy for the kids' but a pain for us. They are right below a slanted ceiling and very easy to knock your head on.

my entry hall was "wasted space", so we had custom oak book shelves put all along the length.

they were custom done by neil's unfinished furniture in houston texas.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Next year, I'm convincing DH to build a kitchen banquette. It'll be the ones with the hinged tops for storage. We have a small corner in the kitchen that's unused atm except for the microwave stand and the box of gluten free flours. Once we put in the above-the-oven microwave, we can ditch the setup we have now and put the banquette in that corner. It's permanent seating and permanent storage, plus it's tucked in the corner so that it won't get in the way.

HGTV's show Pure Design has done quite a few kitchens with banquette seating in them. I'd check out the website.
