Default How/Where to store extra spices?

I have a lazy susan style spice rack that holds 16 spice jars. I also have lots of excess packs of spices and half-opened bags, which are all tied up into an old grocery store shopping bag. I need a better way of storing these extra bags of spices. But how?

    Thanks in advance.

My husband built me a large spice rack on the inside of a closet door (the closet is right off my kitchen, so it's very handy).

I keep my extra spices in small glass jars inside a freezer bag and store them in the freezer so they stay fresh.

I dedicated a whole shelf just for this. But still it never seems enough organized to me.

I wish I could do this, but all of the bags all over the place would drive me nuts. I also have a whole shelf that's just devoted to spice jars and such. These are the reclosable plastic bags you get them in at the store.

Can you start reusing other containers from the store? Maybe larger plastic bins, and put the bags in by usage? Like a bin for "baking spices" another for "Asian spices" etc., etc.?

I have a large Rubbermaid container type of bin that might work. That bin's housing all of the gluten free flours that I have and it's pretty full. I have the reusable shopping bins from Superstore, which might work. I'm going to see if I can straighten up the pantry closet and get things moved into that. If I can, I might utilize one of the bins for spices at the bottom.

I'd thought about maybe buying one of the plastic bins that you can put a pair of shoes in and putting them into that.

I would use some sort of see-thru container.......size depending on how you wanted to organize them/break them down.

You could still see what was in it and the lid would help keep things out. Stored in a cool, dry place.

I don't have room in my freezer to be storing my spices but I keep the large containers in my basement....cool and dry. Use old spice jars filled up from the larger containers.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Are Ziploc brand semi-durable* food containers available near you?
