Smile Little Miss get a bed!

Little Miss has had her box spring and mattress sitting on the floor for years now. She was getting big enough to need a bed frame.

She was also old enough to know what she wanted. LOL Head board and foot board. "Girly" but not so much so one would out grow it.

We looked for months. Boy, things are either poorly made or very expensive.

One day, I mention to my mom that I wished we could find one like the one I had as a teen but didn't cost and arm and a leg. 1)Solid wood2) head board and foot board 3)unfinished real wood 4)with carved flowers in both the head board and foot board 5) ball posts on the corner posts. As a teen, I always dreamed of saving it for my daughter. I thought it had been given away/thown out though.

Mom looks in the basement as finds it. Only problem was it was not the right size. She takes it to a carpenter and they say it is a easy fix so she had them do it.

She gave it to Little Miss and it was just what she had dreamed of.

The price was also very budget friendly Free as it was a hand me down with the fix work a gift from my mom.

Very Happy and grateful girls at this house: Me and Little Miss

~That is awesome!! Sounds gorgeous and you can't beat that price!
We just ordered a bed for our oldest. He's had the boxspring on the floor for years also. We went with USA made, untreated solid wood too. We also got a trundle for dd so the there's going to be so much more room in the kids' room now!~

    Great deal !!!

my youngest daughter slept using the headboard - footboard of my old canapoy bed ( canopy was long gone though ) for about 9 years until we decided to get a day bed with a roll out trundle for sleepovers or when her older sister slept in her room when her attic bedroom was too hot or cold.

    - we still have the headboard and footbaord in the basement - hoping one day i will reset it up in one of the rooms for a future granddaughter to visit and sleep on .

my 16 yo has my brothers old hard oak bed with bookcase in the headboard with sliding doors in it .

the dressers in the room he shares with the 9 yo are nice solid wood dressers that came from dhs great aunts home ( who were in their 80s and 90s when they died over 10 years ago ) so who knows how old they are but they last longer and are more sturdy that what i see out there in stores !!

makes me feel like an old lady saing this but they really just dont make stuff as well as they use to .

The dressers in Little Miss's room were mine and before they became mine at the time of my birth they were in my mother's grandfather's house (so Little Miss's great great grandfather).

Quality well made things are hard to find now unless you are willing and can pay a lot for it. Makes me wonder if people were more willing to pay for quality back then or maybe those cheaply made things from back then are long gone. I wonder what will still be around for many generations yet to come.
