    Default Bedroom with no Closet

What are some good ideas for keeping things tidy and attractive in a bedroom without a closet? This is a teenage girl's room, so there is lots of clothing and other random stuff.

Does anyone have frugal storage ideas - preferably ones that don't involve buying new furniture?

We live in a tiny house and we don't have room for a closet.

We bought some strong steel shelving units that are just 14 inches deep they are against a wall and have ceiling to floor curtains over them.

They are a mixture of shelves and bars on which we hang the blouses/shirts etc.

We bought them from a company in the UK that sells shop fitting equipment.

So any company that sells equipment for clothing stores might have the same thing.

They are super strong and even if I ever have sliding doors put over them instead of the curtains I will NEVER get rid of these as they are far superior to anything I have ever seen/had in any othe kind of wardrobe/closet.

I know you said you do not want to purchase anyhthing, but if you have an ikea nearby, you may be able to get a freestanding closet off of craiglist, or even post "wanted" on craigslist.

My kids use their closets for toys, we use bins and bookcases and dressers for clothes. But that would be purchasing something too.

Are you able to use a couple of these mounted on the wall with everything in a basket - clothes, books, toys etc? Hang accordingly - and leave the bottom one high enough up to hang clothes from. And use totes for other things? If you're handy enough - hang a curtain around the shelves to make a 'closet' type feeling. (Imagine if you use the corner of a room you have 2 walls to hang these shelves from)

Unfortunately no ikea here. I don't mind buying or building shelves, etc., just meant that I didn't want to buy an expensive armoire or wardrobe or other big piece of furniture.

Home Depot/Lowes offers closet kits/solutions - have you checked them out?

Perhaps some rubbermaid type tubs under the bed with out the lids. If not sure the type of bed she has, but you could use

Then you could fit bigger containers.

These are also a good idea, they can have cloth "drawer" added too.

Here is another idea...about halfway down the page on the left, just scroll through the family photos if you want, it shows the little girl's room with a 'closet' and covered with a curtain and baskets stacked across the top.
I love how they utilized the space behind the door, I thought that was really creative.

You could make a closet. If you run a curtain wire from the ceiling (about a foot and a half out from the wall) end to end of each wall, you could hang curtains floor to ceilings. Behind the curtain you could put shelfs or whatever to create a storage space for her clothing.

I bought an armoire at a garage sale for $50. It is 1/2 shelves and 1/2 hanging area. It looks pretty good. I am going to refinish it one day - lol!
