    Default The Great Freshening

So things have gotten a little sorry around here so it's time to freshen up the house. I'm going to do this the no budget way. I'm dedicating a day to each room. So far:

1)bathrooms~really scrubbed, washed the shower curtains and liners and bleached the liners in the sun, washed the bath mats, repaired some small tears in curtains and pressed them. Used some white enamel paint we had to touch up some scuffs on the baseboards

2)our bedroom~washed and pressed curtains, repaired some loose places on the sheets (I only have one set for that bed), decluttered, dusted, got down cobwebs and used a Mr. Clean eraser to wash the walls

    3) dining room~curtains again, moved the furniture to sweep and crawled around the baseboards with the vacuum tool to get all those places you can never get, polished all the wood, shined up the mirrors

    4) kitchen~still working on this one, got the cabinets and walls washed, microwave, fridge and stove super clean and polished. I still need to do the floors and wash the light shades and fan.

I still need to finish the kitchen and do the living room and back hallway and mudroom. I hope to use the paint I still have in the garage to touch up any chips, etc. I haven't painted in 5 years so it's got some places but it's amazing what a good cleaning and small repairs can do. It doesn't look new but it looks way better for just some time and elbow grease.

What you're saying about getting it clean makes the difference is so true! I think if the only thing I could afford to buy once a year was a gallon of paint. I'd pick white and re-do all the woodwork in the house. Makes the rest of the paint look bright and new again!

But good job there Joy! You put your best foot forward and got a ton of stuff done. Sounds like nothing got past you with all the little detail stuff you did. That kinda stuff just seems to disappear from our vision when we live with it, kwim? You gotta be feeling great about your house right now! I should take a lesson from your post...lol!

Now go and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

I agree with the paint Theresa.

Cleaning, mending and decluttering go a long way in making a house a comfortable home.

yeah it's the trim on the baseboards that gets all banged up.

    congratulations!

    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Great job! You certainly have been busy! I'm doing the same, not to your extent though! I had my carpets cleaned on Tuesday, so I've been going through and doing a good cleaning. It's definitely much needed and makes smell so good!
