I think the question should have been, "Is your clutter magnet a kitchen counter?" Mine is first, and foremost, a clutter magnet...a kitchen counter as an afterthought, and on the weekends it's a cocktail bar

    Oh, yeah.

What has helped me about the counters is following FLYlady. She has a 'rule' (guideline) that tells us to go around before going to bed and clean off 'hot spots'.

She has a whole bedtime routine. I find for me, it's better if I do this a couple of hours before bedtime, as I need time to unwind in order to sleep. But you get the idea....

If I have something like a to-do list on the counter, that's OK. But I try to get off all things that are just clutter, each night. Before it gets to be a really big mess.

The kitchen counter is the ONLY place that hubby doesn't spread all his clutter out on! He seems to have a problem with clean surfaces.

This is my problem too. I have a built in desk at the end of my kitchen and that is where ALL PAPER ends up. I am a stacker or pile maker.......but the stacks can get pretty deep!!

My counter gets stuff put/piled on it that I am going to cook/bake (to remind me).....or sometimes groc. that need to go to the basement. But when it bugs me.......the job/jobs get done.

Nope, I like a clean and neat kitchen or I'm not cooking. Mail goes on the desk and is cleaned off every couple of days.
