I have done some minor purging today. While putting away the Christmas decorations and ornaments. I sorted out the ones I don't use or like and Have a nice sized bag to donate to Salvation army. Now all my Christmas stuff fits into two red totes that I bought just for their storage. It looks nice and neat now! I love getting rid of unused things!

I have so much to get out of the house. Mainly DD clothes, yes I have every piece of clothing from birth until now, which is about 10 totes Also have a lot of toys to go through also. I plan on keeping the gender neutral ones and selling the rest along with DD clothes at a mom to mom sale in Feb. This will greatly clear out our basement.

I did get DH to go through his clothes, ended up with 2 boxes for purple heart. I also went through some of our extra glasses and gave those on freecycle. I have a set of dishes & other kitchen related items to try and sell on Craigslist. I will keep them up for a week and what ever I do not sell, I will donate. Since we are still trying to get out of debt I am trying to make money on anything & everything I can!

I am hoping that once most of the items I purge my house will be less cluttered & I won't feel so overwhelmed when cleaning!

I experience this EVERY YEAR! And I do pretty well for the first couple of months but eventually slip and forget about purging things til my piles upon piles remind me to get going again!

I've been going through paperwork and have implemented a Touch It Once policy for incoming mail--I touch it once and then recycle, shred or file it. That's helping IMMENSELY!

I'm also going through closets and bagging up some clothes to take to a local thrift shop.

I get great satisfaction when I get rid of stuff. My husband is a harder and we used to argue a lot over this. Now he is mostly along for the ride. Our basement used to be full of stuff and we were climbing over things to get to the washer and dryer. Now there is so much space. I'm not done yet and I hope to get everything organized in the next month or so.

LOL - the closest thing I've done to purging lately (other than taking out the garbage) is fill up a 'purge bag' with books/dvds I'm no longer interested in. (It's not all that big.) On the other hand, I'm making a small dent in my stash of yarn. And I haven't bought any more to replace it. What I really need to do is go through the stuff on the hangers in my closet and start getting rid of stuff that I haven't touched in years and is totally out of date.

I would like to clean out some of the craft stuff I'm not likely to use again and organize what I have. I could do the same with the office supplies. I did put away some of the knick nacks as I am now rotating around my collection so I have less on display to dust.

I already cleaned out all the duplicate bedding. I have two sets of sheets in flannel and cotton. I have enough towels for house guests. I also went through the kitchen and got rid of everything I had duplicates of or something else that would serve the same function. I also cleaned up my assortment of miscellaneous hardware/repair parts as one can never find the right size screws or nails in a big tub of junk. I purchased a picture hanging kit and a kit with several sizes of screws in a neat little organizer at the Dollar store. It's so easy to just go to a compatible item in the hardware supply cabinet now.
