soap in the kids bathroom
I'm not sure what it is about soap in my house, but my family are fiends. I used to get the kids body wash, but between the three of them they go through one of those Suave 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 bottles a week!!!!!! I get it, they like bubbles....and I know the 2 bucks for the soap shouldn't be a big deal but I'm spending $15-20 a month on soap for the bathrooms....it's just ridiculous.
I recently started buying Yardley Oatmeal and Almond bath soap for the kids bathroom, which they seem to enjoy. It leaves soap scum behind, which I don't enjoy.
I tried a liquid all in one Castille soap, but I didn't like the way it doesn't lather like I want it to.
Any tips for me Frugal Friends? Any welcome and appreciated.
*No allergies in this house.

I'm jealous that you have a kids bathroom.
One bathroom here.
What about bar soap? It's cheaper and they can't waste it away like they can liquid soap. If they like bubbles then buy some really cheap bubble bath and monitor it. But I guess it depends on the kids ages.

Is this for bathing......or hand washing and both?
Any liquid soap can be diluted. Divide one bottle between two bottles and fill with water........or even thinner if you want......will cut their bubbles and might end up cutting the waste.
For bath.......have them use it on a wash cloth.........that should help.
I even dilute the liquid body washes and put them in my foaming hand soap dispensers..........since I don't use the body wash....(prefer bar soap and scrubs) ....but have gotten some for gifts.

Mine were just like yours. I bought a dispenser that sticks to the shower wall ($20 Walmart). Ours holds 3 different liquids (liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner in our case). You push a button and it squirts out a little product. I may fill it up every 4-6 months now. It works so well, we got one for our bathroom.

I agree with 2ndGenGranola. we have one of these & the rule is one squirt per product per shower lol/2 of the shampoo if you have long hair, lol. Has been working well for us for years. Kids will think it's fun to push the button & it's nice not having all the bottles hanging around getting all icky.

For washing the body try the mesh sponges. Just a squirt of soap and you can clean the whole body and have plenty of soap bubbles. They even work well with bar soap.

One other suggestion. With the new year coming around January is the best time to stock up on body care products with coupons and sales. Personally I don't worry about the expiration date since it is soap. Might help with cutting down the cost.

If you have girls limit bubble baths and if they just shower, remind htem to not use much if any soap around the 'privates'; it can lead to yeast infections.

bar soap is germy imo when used for hand washing as it never dries out, etc
i cant possibly complain about handsoap...kids are germ factories and i figure at least they are washing their hands! lol
we dont do a "soap rule" here. as long as their hands are clean, that is good enough for me. but i do water down the liquid hand soap and a bit here and there.

Thanks so much.....
I appreciate all your suggestions. I do dilute nearly EVERY liquid soap in our house. I'm not worried about hand soap...they can never use enough of that, imo either. I was talking about bath soap.
We have 2 boys aged 6 and 7. They are my step-children and since they areboys, they don't like me to go in the bathroom with them AT ALL which I understand.
They take showers during the week and then on Sunday they get to take baths. My little girl is 2 and taes bubble baths all the time---but we like yogurt so infections are not a problem.
I was thinking of purchasing a dispenser.....We bought a timer for the shower this year which the kids get a kick out of, and I get a kick out of the water bill!
Thanks frugal friends for all your help. I'm new here and looking forward to sharing tips and tricks for raising a family on an army salary.
Happy New Year!

Hmmm a timer for the shower...I am going to have to look into that. I always wash my hair first anyhow so it wouldn't be a big deal if it kicked me out. I'm sure I take super-longer-than-needed showers 'cause I daydream.

If you don't have pumps on the bottles, or a dispenser, that would be the first place to start. I was watching my wife cruise through a bottle of shampoo. I put a pump on her bottle, and she's using the shampoo much slower, while still getting her hair clean.
