Before and After Pics of My Decluttered Home Office

Hi everybody!!! I'm a newbie here, but I thought I would share the results of my efforts this year. I have decided to focus on one "big" project each month this year, mostly aimed at decluttering initially and then going back and doing decorating/painting/etc. later.

For January, my project was to clean up my home office. Due to a bunch of nonsense, it had been about three years since I had filed anything in there. Then, just before Thanksgiving, we got all the carpets in our house cleaned, so all the paperwork from everywhere else got dumped in there in one fell swoop. It was far and away the worse room in my house.

I committed to spending at least one hour a day in there. Once I got started and seeing progress, I ended up being motivated to throw in an extra hour here and there. It took me 15 hours (!) total, but just over a week to get it beaten back into submission.

I am so happy. I just like going in there and sitting and smiling at the peace.

My February project was my basement, which I have pretty much finished (also an hour at a time). I'll post those pics in a separate thread.

I hope this encourages those of you with "clutter dungeons" to start, even with just doing an hour a day. You'll be amazed how quickly you start seeing progress.

    Thanks Jas!

Fortunately the rest of my house is mostly good to go. Hubby's home office is a little messy (one of my future projects). Now that the basement is done, all that's left is the garage and it's not that bad at all.

I'm so happy to have these projects done. It just feels like a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders.

    Thanks everyone!

I've had it finished now for about six weeks and it is still as pristine as it was the day I finished it. I've been filing things as they have come in so nothing new has been put on the tabletops.

I do need to go through the shelf in the closet (which is overloaded with nice tote bags from past conferences I have attended, but I have some ideas in mind for things to do with them, so I will wait a bit on that project).
