Buying a house paying cash
I made an appointment with a realtor (Sulek and Dutton) to look at 2 houses one is a 4 bedroom, 1 bath house with a 2 car garage, for $12,000 it has beasutiful woodwork and a great staircaise, it is in town in Martins Ferry, OHIO and the other is on Coleraine Pike out in the country for $18,000 we are very excited. We are going to look at these houses on Wednesday afternoon.
We are looking for a house that we can fix up the way we want our house to look like. The only good thing that happened lately (besides my DS Brad) is that the prices of housing has dropped drastically in my area. The above houses would have cost 2 to 3 times that amount.
We can pay cash and own out right.

That would be great and what prices. I know where Martins Ferry is. I lived in Ohio and traveled to Wheeling...well, some beyond Wheeling several times a year. Close to Jamboree in the Hills.
Hubby used to sing once in awhile at the WWVA radio station...don't know if it's still thereBank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Good luck. I hope you find a house you love. I used to live in the Ohio Valley and most of my family is from there and some still there. I have family in Belmont County.

Yes 98.7 is still there and yes so is Jambo it ended last month with Toby Keith.
My hometown is Bellaire Ohio the rivalry of Martins Ferry. I live in Wheeling. And I work on Wheeling Island at the only gas station there.
Yes the Capitol Music Hall is still in downtown Wheeling, 3 minutes from where I work.

Thats a great price for a house! But I'd be wondering if the area will survive the economy. Will you have the funds to sustain yourselves after you buy it and move to fix it up and live? (not sure what you do for a living etc)
BTW: I remember Wheeling, WV - the Keaton family lived there
Plus I remember when we drove through the town, was pretty and we stopped at the casino too.

If you went to the casino you probably passed by my workplace, we are on the main drag. If you are coming from PA when you get off the Island exit at the first light on the left if Burger King and by it is KFC and on the left is Madison School. Go past the light to the next light (only 2 lights on the Island) on your left is the gas station. I work in the day time and if your coming from Ohio it is the first light on your right. I wear my hair in a ponytail I work dayshify till 3 p.m.m

My grandfather (on my stepdads side) lived in Glencoe his entire life. My grandmother (on my stepdads side) lived in St. Clairsville, then in Glencoe. My mom's parents lived all over the place but mainly in St.C and Flushing (i think). I lived in Barnesville until 1988 when we moved out here to Jersey. I still have family in Glencoe, St.C and scattered around the area.
EDIT:
My step sisters family is from Bellaire.Chele

Rhayne, we have friends in Glencoe name Keith and Karon Baretti they run Belmont Memorial in St. Clairsville, Oh.
This is so cool because we might know a lot of the same people.
You said that your stepsisters family is from Bellaire, what is there name, a lot of my family is still living in Bellaire, including my daughter and her family, plus cousins and a brother.
Keep in touch.

Paying cash for your house is the way to go!
We paid cash for our first house but of course we got greedy wanted more and financed the next one. HUGE MISTAKE... I regret every day selling that house.

We decided against the one in Martins Ferry, great woodwork huge garage, fenced yard, we are deciding on the other one outside of Ferry on Colraine Pike off Rte 250, new wiring, windows,, etc. Need very little work downstairs but more upstairs, it is out in the country. My son is going to help us with utilities.
They want $19,900 but worth it, has 4 bedrooms and two full baths and a garage underneath.
