My new daily house plan -works for me
I need simple plans with lots of flexibility.
I don't like long lists to check off. The long list stalls me out before I start and I hate things not checked off.
I like things to be my idea. I do them because I want to not because someone or something tells me it is time.
Example today the freezer and fridge needed to be worked on.
I told Hubby, "I want to do that today". ( To him that means I guess that I might get around to it)
He said, "You mean you will do it today. I needs to be done today".
I said, "I mean I want to do it for fun instead of I have to do it, then it is a chore. It is a mental thing. Sweetie".
He said, "I guess so".
Long story short
Here my daily plan
My Daily Five
Daily Maintenance
Pick up
Clean
Desk work
Laundry
I get to pick what and how much is done in each category. But as long as something was done in each category then I get to give myself a "Gold star" so to speak.
So far so little on my to do list coupled with a choice in what I think and want to do that day have been great and things are ship shape.
Works for me
Oh and in case you think things don't get done this way
Here is what I did today
daily maintenance - unload load dish and hand washed those that don't go in washer, wiped counters, made bed, made sure toilet was clean, and all those little things you do automatically without thinking
Pick up - put everything back in the room in goes ( kids things in a bag for them to take up to their room) almost everything is in the correct place - it's home
Clean- fixed fridge and freezer ( defrost even though it is a frost free freezer) cleaned the inside of fridge sparkle clean because nothing was in it. through out outdated stuff from fridge and freezer, vacuumed the vents/coils.
vacuumed whole house since I fixed the vacuum yesterday
desk work- check accounts, bills, checked kids grades, checked lunch accounts, wrote check, make menu for week, make shopping list
Laundry - off day ( not clothes washing day) I did towels.
See it was great only having 5 things to do today.

Great plan, I hope it works out for you

I can relate to seeing a huge daunting list of things that need to be done. On the other hand, getting those things outta your brain and onto paper is a whole other job in itself.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

Tomorrow I will probably pick less cleaning to do as I will be spending most of the morning "playing" I get to go grocery shopping tomorrow. So in guess it will be sort of a play day as I will be playing most of the morning.

I have my house cleaning split into six days. It ends up that I vacuum three of the six days, mop two of the six days, dust two of the six days, laundry two of the six days and clean the bathroom once out of the six days. Some days I have to do two things to do and some days I only have to do one. It is the only way I can keep my house clean because if I leave it all for the weekend I will never do any of it.
