    Talking I am curious

About various organization and cleaning techniques.
I have been reading a bit on a web site devoted to this.
They talk about a "Household Notebook"
Do any of you use this or something similar? What exactly do you do with it?
I do want to get my price book redone, updated and finished, especially since our eating style is changing
I want to get my whole home organized and finsihed for spring.
What are your challenges in this area?
Mine is gettign a regular routine together so each task is done on a certain day each week.
AND getting my teen sons to realize life is not all school and pc time!
Any books or other web sites you recommend?
I have a book called "how not to be a messie" by Sandra Felton.
Now, If only I would finish reading it perhaps it would help.....

the only website that i've really used was flylady..i don't do it now, but I do try very hard to keep my sink as empty as possible

My main problem is just all the junk we have here, the toys, the junk, the toys, oh and the piles of laundry
I need to have a better system for myself really...just not getting depressed, when i get depressed and tired I just sit and let it pile up

I have tried keeping a sheet of paper with what I should do each day but I always end up losing the sheet for some reason.

Heather, I always imagined you as having it all together. You seem so.... I don't know but I never imagined you having this difficulty!

    Check out http://www.organizedhome.com

They have a household notebook you can print out. They also have a nifty Holiday Organizer.

aww melissa! That's about the nicest compliment I've ever gotten! Thanks!!

But yeah it's a real struggle to keep this place in order for just a day...so I try to make sure that that day is when people come over (mainly the inlaws)

I do have like one day or two out of the week where I really get into it all..and organize and clean and do laundry and exercise and grocery shop all in that day..but boy am I wiped out the rest of the week then the clutter begins all over again

Melissa - this is an area I really fall down in. I'm the most disorganized person around and I struggle all the time with keeping things in order. I've sorta learnt to live with it because after 35 years, its pretty hard to change. Wish I was like my mom, her little place is spotless. Maybe thats why, is because her place is so little and she has no kids around.

For me, I think its decluttering even more. Getting rid of things certainly makes it easier to be organized and to keep things organized. Right after the New Year, I'm going to be working hard at doing this and getting organized.

I declutter once a month and still have more junk than before. I think when children are around it is just to hard to stay organized. I like everything in a certain spot. I was known as the neat freak, but I finally wore myself down by always walking behind everyone and picking everything up. I now have learned to live with some clutter. My house is not a total mess, but it isn't the way I want it either.

Maybe when all the kids are grown and gone......but then there will be grandchidren.

Thank you for this thread it's Great!

I joined FlyLady about 5 times now LOL and I tend to either read the e-mails and not do anything! Or just delete them and then feel guilty! It seemed to work for EVERYONE I was beginning to wonder what was wrong with me!!!

De-Clutter has been on my To Do list for about 15 years (honestly!) and I do but I don't seem to be getting anymore organized??

I have just spent the last 18 hours (almost solid) sorting, moving, cleaning, chucking etc. as we have people coming for new year!!!

I just seem to have soooooo much STUFF. I do find it really hard to keep up with the kids as well.

I REALLY do want to get on top of this problem this year as it is also the main thing that causes my depression (I think)

I'm so glad I'm not alone. And I'll be checking out the messy home site - it looks really interesting. Nearly got side tracked there just now LOL.

I'll be checking back here to see any other comments. This is my main headache!!!

    Thanks again

I wish I could offer some suggestions, but I'm searching for answers as well. I get daily messages from Messies Anonymous (sorry, I don't have the URL). It's kinda like FlyLady, but I like it better because it seems more down to earth. I'll be watching for answers!

Boy do I need to declutter. I think I need to do to many things at once. First I need energy which if I lose some weight will give it to me, but I will still try & keep after that clutter. I was de cluttering today, going through papers. mmmm. they are all gone now & it does look better, just need to keep up with it now.
