    Default DeCluttering Suggestion #1

If you are looking to SERIOUSLY declutter your home, ask yourself this question:

If you only had 20 minutes to evacuate your home and could only take with you what you could fit into your car, what would you take? What would you take if you were only allowed to save the things you could carry?

Once you realized that most things can be replaced and that there are very few items that you truely need or that have the most long-lasting sentimental value, it is easier to lighten your load.

It's funny, before I always wanted and thought I needed more "stuff" to be happy; nice dishes, new furniture, knick knacks, electronics, etc. Losing everything really important to me and moving into ONE room really makes you prioritize your life and your belongings. I know have learned to make do with less and it feels so much better, a lighter load so to speak. I hope I can continue to keep this new mentality with my new place, I don't want it cluttered! Thanks for the reminder, Amy.

I agree totally!! When you look at it that way, you soon realize just how much you really don't need.

Great tip Amy! I've been working on decluttering (just finished up in my kitchen), moving on to my closet, and not only does it look better, more organized, etc., I feel better. I've never been one for a lot of clutter on walls, shelves, etc., but behind cabinet doors and closet doors lookout! This was a really good reminder. Thanks.
