Talking OK all would like some input

As you all know I will soon be moving into a new home.
I want to stock up on cleaning items. I generally use bleach, and cleanser.
I want a swiffer (and dh called in the swiffer wet deal for me Thursday!)
    Do the shower sprays work?
You know the ones where it says so and so desn't clean her shower anymore?
I am thinking of using them in my boys bathroom.
Also for the first time I wll have a dish washer!
Which soap works best in really hard water?
I already remember reading that filling the soap cup full is not good, it only take a TBLS or so per load.
As for windex, I get winshield wiper fluid, it works as well and helps stop foggy mirrors! All for .97c per gallon!
    What about for the carpets?
How often should I plan on shamppoing? Would one of those steamer dealys be a good investment? Or just rent a rug dr every now and then?
    What do you all think?

I did not like that shower spray that was supposed to keep it clean, I didn't feel it lived up to its claims. The best ones I have used are Lysol with soap scum removers and limeaway for hard water spots is the best for me. I get bad black rings in the toilet from the hard water here, but the limeaway works good, wear rubber gloves tho- There is a spray called carpet science that works wonders on small stubborn spots in carpet, but I have learned the hard way that anything with red dye in it that is spilled on carpet is probably there for life! If I had it to do all over again I would clean my crpets every three months or so because dh and the kids are terrible about wiping feet etc. I inherited a little green clean machune from my dad, but you have to bend over and do it on your hands and knees, not always so easy for some of us. The best advice I guess is to keep a regular cleaning schedule with every aspect of housework. My schedule is so hectic that I rarely have time for schedule maintenance, it just gets done when I get 'round to it...

I use Cascade liquid for the dishwasher..and have a Dirt Devil Steam Vac. I love having it on hand because then at least once a month DH or I can clean up the mess that ds insists on making...such as a chocolate syrup carpet..*L*..

I use the Lysol shower spray as well and cleaning the shower thouroughly once a week...

Never tried a swiffer..let me know how it works...

I have a swifer and love it!

I also use cascade liquid. A dishwasher repairman told me once that the tablets are not good for your machine. So I strayed away from those.

I use tilex mildew remover in the shower.

I am happy for you! You sound so excited!!!

I use pure vinegar on my glass shower door. If the hard water and soap scum won't come off after spraying and wiping I'll spray with vinegar and use baking soda on a scrubbie to wash and it ALWAYS comes off with that.
I have a hoover steam vac and I love having it. It saves us money to have rather than to rent. We use Oxyclean to shampoo the carpets, when needed. I would buy one that has the water heater thing in it. I think that would be a great help cuz I always use hot water in mine.
Don't have a swiffer but have been thinking about getting one.
    I'm excited for you Mel!

I use the shower cleaners and they work great here! I generally use whatever is cheapest in the dishwasher--right now it is Electrasol. We don't have a Swiffer, but called for the Swiffer Wet Jet. DH uses a rag mop on the floors (that's one of his jobs). I use vinegar and water for a lot of general cleaning.

I had a Clorox Ready Mop. It got all plugged up and never did spray right again. Dh brought me home a Swiffer Wet Jet. It takes batteries (included). That sucker will spray about 3 feet!

I liked the shower spray when I had glass doors. It smells good too and would help keep the boys bathroom fresh. I guess you'll have to try it and see what you think. Vinegar might work just as well (if it didn't smell so bad).
