Red face How to make a thumb tack, not look so tacky?

I need to hang my calendar in my room now, but all I really have is a thumb tack or a skinny nail..I haven't had luck with the nails so I'm using the thumb tack..

Only problem is it TOTALLY clashes with the whole look of the room...Is there something I can cover it with to make it look not so tacky?

Or is there a different idea to hang a calandar with that looks elegant?

    thanks!

Maybe you could glue something to the front of your tack so it won't be seen... like a little wooden cut out or something?

At Wal-Mart I saw a really pretty frame made just for calendars... you slide a calendar into it and then it looks like a framed picture.

Just hot glue a pretty button, rhinestone, fake flower, small decroative magnet or something else small and pretty to the front of your push pin or thumb tack. You probably have something that would either match the colors or general theme of your room just lying around the house, in a scrap bag or craft box. Look through things and think creatively.

    Thanks for the great ideas!
I am totally clueless when it comes to crafty stuff, but glueing a button or something like that is a great idea!

The framed idea also sounds really neat!

Could you use a coordinating piece of fabric? just wrap around the thumb tack make sure it's snug I poke the tack through the fabric in a criss-cross pattern and there ya have it

Heather, How funny! I just posted on another thread how I used to decorate thumbtack heads and sell them when I was a kid! I think everyone here has great suggestions!
