    Default My Countertops

My countertops are such a challenging area of organization for me. It seems as though, when I walk in the door at the end of the day, everything just gets set on the counter. I actually still have a pair of dd's sandals from last summer just sitting on the counter, near the stove. Does anyone else struggle with their counters and do you have any suggestions for cleaning them up and maintaining their neatness?

Thanks Carolyn! I have this problem too Amy. The boy's school papers seem to fall on the counter and sit there until I get tired of looking at them and throw them out.

i have a sideboard that is a catch all and as long as the clutter stays over there, i'm happy. when it migrates to the other counters, it drives me nuts. once a day i go through the kitchen and deal with whatever has been deposited on the counters. usually it's dishes that no one put in the dishwasher. once a month i go over the sideboard. papers get dealt with and it gets decluttered and straightened up.
i found that when i had one surface as the designated catch all, it kept the other counters cleared of most everything. it is also easier to declutter and straighten when it is only in one place instead of the whole kitchen.
