What do you think about this idea?
If you have a room in your home that you would like to redo/redecorate, and you are able to post it's picture, let's do it. Then, once the picture is posted, we could all help with suggestions on what to do. (If my sources serve me correctly, we actually have an interior decorator lurking around on this site!) If we like the suggestions, we could use them and post the after pictures as well. If we don't like them, or are uncomfortable with them, well, no harm no foul. Of course, in keeping with the spirit of the village, all suggestions should be relatively cheap to create. What do you think? I'll go first.

Julia's Room
Okay, the room I need the most help with is Julia's room. We will be transferring her into a big girl bed by the end of the month and would like to give her a big girl room, as well. I need cheap ideas. I'm posting the 4 views of her room, as well as a shot of her, just for inspiration! I look forward to your input!

here are some small tips in the meanwhile:
keep road carpet, buy a border at target fun cars or something with a sky, planes, birds or paint the room a pale yellow.
get some whimsical posters. Bright cartoon characters and have them framed. (can be poster frames)
add some wall shelves
add some fun knobs onto the dresser
get a chain from toys r us to hang the plush from.
get a small table/chair set to give her a sitting area.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Ooh, I like those ideas. I really don't have any ideas on a budget. Since we already have a bed, I'm thinking around $250-$300 tops. I love the table/chairs idea...she's all about being a big girl, so she'd love that. I also like the idea of new knobs for the dresser. I've been debating wall shelves for awhile, but was waiting to paint the walls.

Like Sara I was also going to suggest painting the walls a light yellow. You could also paint large white and yellow stripes on the walls. My sister is doing this for her baby room. She found the idea at www.potterybarnkids.com They had cute ideas for a baby's room. I think the little table and chair would be a really cute idea. Maybe set her a little work station for drawing, reading, etc.

Craft stores have these wooden letters. It would be cute to get her name in the wooden letters. You can paint them really nice and bright colors for her.
Once you decide on a theme like let's say springtime as an example. You can really add lots of embellishments. An example, if choosing spring, you could add silk flowers, butterflies.
You could try your hand at handpainting a growth chart for her on her wall or door.
I love the little glow stars for ceilings too.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. You can go to Lowe's/Home Depot and pick up some wooden windowboxes and hang them under the windows. Use them for her books etc. (can paint them and stencil them) That would get the books off the floor (bookcase) and give you more space for anything else you may want to add. I'd do valances that look like clouds/sky.
