Default Why did I wait so long? Do you ever do things like this?

Our toilet seat was getting raunchy..rusting on the hinges...the rust would stain the seat...I had left dye stains from preivous hair dying I did...all these things would not come out. no matter how hard i scrubbed, especially the rusting cracks. I was SO embarrassed about it, but just lived with it because i didn't want to spend the money on a new seat.

What TOOK me so long to realize it was important, and finally go out and buy a new seat? It's kind of funny but ticks me off that I didn't let myself get it sooner.

Do you have anything you've put off/been putting off because you thought/think you don't want to spend the money it, or maybe for other reasons?

Heather, thats a great question. I have a couple of things I had never wanted to purchase. Something for me, something for the house.

    - I never wanted to spend money on beauty products. Recently I won a contest and got some wonderful beauty products and am so enjoying them. It opened my eyes, that from now on, I'm going to spend a little on me. It made me feel like a brand new person.

    - On the house, I use to always purchase "cheap" sheets for our bed. When we moved to our new home, we purchased a new bed and I decided to buy top of the line sheets, a bit more expensive than I normally would pay, but I've never regretted it. It is so different sleeping in nice sheets.

Sometimes, when we are frugal, we tend to forget to pamper ourselves in little ways like this or we feel we shouldn't. I'm learning it pays to pamper, because in the long run, it makes one feel great!!

My dh and I have been married 15 years, and we have lived in 3 houses. It seems like right before we move, we fix up the house to sell. Then we always talk about why didn't we do that sooner. And it's usually not any big things, but just things that we lived with. Like painting windowsills that had gotten kind of worn, or replacing an ugly faucet in the bathroom. Stuff like that. Well, now I'm trying to do it when it needs it. I didn't like the faucet in my kitchen, I wanted one of those sort of goose neck ones. So, we did it. It's great and I love it. Of course, it took 8 years in this house before I did it, but at least I didn't do it just for the new owners!

Pam we just put a gooseneck faucet in this house when we moved in... it is wonderful!
We are doing alot of tinkering here. I was never much into fixing up houses, but I never had one to work on, either.

ooooh we got a gooseneck faucet about a year? after we moved in, and I just LOVED it! It really helps us be able to fill up our water pitcher when the sink is full of dishes too
Not that there should ever be THAT many dishes but somehow it happens

Cj, I'm so glad you found pleasure with the beauty products for yourself I haven't yet gotten the best of the best sheets, but I really can tell a huge difference between our 250 ct. and 180 ct. sheets! Softer sheets are just so much nice to lay your skin against

I guess I would have to say I too put things off. It took me a long time to finally tell myself to purchase new window blinds for some of the windows. The cat thinks he has to look out all the windows and pulls them. I don't know why I put it off. I guess I don't want to spend the money at the time, but after it is done it sure makes the room look better. Then I think like Dr. Phil would say, "What was I thinking?"
