Talking Does your dh have good taste?

I find that any decorating thing I want to do, there's dh with his two cents. He has bad taste folks. Really bad!
We are planning to buy new furniture soon. He's looking at stuff that is so yucky I want to scream.

In all fairness, he should have some say in what is in the home, but why oh why can't I have one of those dh's that has no opinion on decorating? *LOL*

I mean I do not want the game station on top of the tv just sitting there. I am not a teen anymore. *LOL*

We're talking I wouldn't be surprised if he hauled in one of those dogs playing poker pictures. *LOL*

    I need help!

No, not really. He usually just goes along with whatever I want. He does want one of those sectional sofas that fit in corners. You know, the ones that are shaped like an L. There is nothing wrong with that except I keep picturing my aunts 70's sectional sofa complete with the orange matty cover. Yuck!

I could handle movie posters in a game room/family room type situation, but have to admit after a few, it would drive me batty too.

My husband is into gaming. *sigh* We are buried in computer games and game station games. He loves to read and so we have tons of books too.

It's just sometimes he has good taste and sometimes he has the worst taste on the planet. He'll point out something and I will wonder what is he thinking?

We are considering building a home and all I can think of is the battle over every square inch. (wallpaper, flooring, paint) UGH

Now to give him credit-Because he does have an interest, it means I get new things more often than I would if he didn't. EX: I may not like those dish towels, but they are new. *LOL*

I guess I am blessed. He has good taste in almost everything-he went to art school so he has a decent eye for color etc. As long as I dont go too girlie or frillie he's ok with it. My complaint--he really likes the "office look" plain, neutral, to him it's ok to put the computer in the living room. We compromise--The computer is on a rolling cart that can be taken out when I have company, we have studio space in the attic that keeps my crafts and books out of sight and his electronics away, and the dining room is MINE-off limits to kids, DH and anyone else who is not up for a formal dinner.

errr, I think it's too late to retract my post. I would explain further except I know I will dig a deeper hole, as you know how that happens with me in these situations. *LOL*

I will now creep up into the rafters to hide and will refrain from commenting too much on decor in the future. *LMAO*

My dh is always eyeing those sectional sofas too. He wants the ones that have recliners built in. Our great room is too small for one. My problem is that dh wants everything black. Black tv stand, black appliances, black accessories. It can look nice sometimes, but I want color.

Good taste? Well...his idea of high class decor is to toss his baseball cap on the portable dishwasher, hang his jacket on the bannister and leave empty chip bags on the nightstand. He definitely has no decorating style...at least not one that I like!

    Sara,
I feel your pain!! LOL......my husband thinks that our house has to look like a game reserve! I finally had to relent and let him have the family room in the basement. And i know what you mean about having "discussions" on furniture. I put my husbands bachelor sofa set in the basement for a reason!!! LOL
But never fear.....i eventually talked my hubby into giving in on the sofa set we have now....and searched for forever! I just relied on his natural tendencies to save us money by explaining that if we went with the neutral colored set.....i wouldn't have to change the walls, curtains, etc. etc.

Ok, I have been LMAO at some of your posts here! Is'nt it funny how alot of men think differently than us women when it comes to home decorating?
I get to do all of the decorating in our home, and since I love to decorate in country, with all of the antiques and such, dh seems to like it. I have even incorporated a few old western pieces into it.

Dh has a room downstairs that I call the HOBO room!

It is adjacent to his workshop and he has a very unique way of decorating it. You ladies would be laughing sooooooo hard if you saw it. He has flags hanging from the wall, and a bunch of hodge-podge pictures and such hanging around his room. He put candles in tincans and has furniture from Mexico, that his parents had made when they lived by the border. It is dark wood and has orange slipcovers on the cushions Ok, enough of my rambling on, I am sure that you ladies get the picture!

Orange slip covers? DH would be in heaven. LOL

DH is gone more than he is home. I am the one who decorates because I am here. As long as I don't rearrange traffic patterns, he is happy.

We call his office the "I love me room." Two walls are covered floor to ceiling with awards, plaques, guidons, etc. that he has received while in the Army. The other two walls are floor to ceiling book cases filled with history books and army manuals.
