Default How much do you actually wear? - Closet Organization

This is really a great idea for those of us who love to shop sales just for the sake of the sale, but at the same time, complain that we have no closet space!!!

At the start of each season, when switching your clothes for the change in weather, hang all your clothes with the hanger head pointing out into the room instead of toward the wall. As you wear and return your clothes to the closet, put them back as you normally would, with the hanger pointing to the back closet wall. At the end of the season, see how many clothes still have their hanger heads facing out into the room. These are the clothes to consider discarding.

This is a big problem with me! My closet is filled with clothes that I haven't worn in years. But I'm afraid as soon as I get rid of something, that I'll wish I still had it!

Boy, can I relate to that one!! It is so true, I would say half of the clothes hanging in my closet I DO NOT wear. I'm thinking I might fit into them someday!!

I have heard this idea before and just never got around to it. I really do think I will give it a try with the spring season. I have so many clothes that don't fit or are so out of style its pitiful. I just hate to part with them. My closet is a disgrace and its so jumbled. I am determined to reduce the excess in it this year. Thanks for reminding me.

aack! sounds great only the hangers being different direction would totally freak me out (i'm really O.C. about how my hangers and clothes hang)

But I try to wear everything at least one then I go through and do it again. Just yesterday I kicked out a CUTE shirt my dh picked up for me at a garage sale a year ago and I'd only worn it a few times since the material makes me sweat too fast and it shows through So every so often I take out a peice that just doesn't work for me. Oh man and I also ruined a lovely shirt by it getting snagged They just sort of all have their own life expectancy
