I have heard of people having good luck with FlyLady, but I am not one of them. I didn't even last a day. lol

My best cleaning method is to invite someone over and then I have to clean like a mad woman before they arrive.

I started subscribing to the flylady about a month back... and i find a lot of progress in me... in fact i could not do the bedtime routine and morning routine from the first week... I did only the shine sink part for the first two weeks.... I have got used to that now.. Now i try to add one task to the bed time routine per week... it is really helpful... very slowly i am getting into the habit of doing these tasks..and i am most happy to see a clean sink , the first thing in the morning..

I have had really good luck with Flylady, am more organized than I have ever been. Must admit I don't do everything every day but if I miss something this time around sometimes I catch it next time round.

I... sort of... use FlyLady.

When I first found her several years ago I drove myself batty trying to keep up. Then my husband lost his job and I went back to work and I just stopped. Now that I'm back to being a SAHM, I realized that the reason FlyLady didn't work for me was because I was trying to clean by someone else's standards/rules... and if I don't LIVE by other people's standards/rules, why in the blue blazes should I CLEAN by them?? Soooo... I did what I do best. I adapted. I read the FlyLady site and various links it led to for a week or so, taking notes about things I did like and didn't like and jotting down notes to myself about how I wanted to do some things as they came to me. Then the next week I made a rough draft schedule for myself, based on my needs, my family's demands, my life... using what I could take from FlyLady. I do wear shoes every day. My sink is usually clean every night before I go to bed. I work in blocks of time now. I have a Master Notebook that I all but live out of. I have a (mostly) firm schedule of what needs to be done on what day of the week.

Catching up on that year I was a zombie mom is hard, especially when the brood got used to just throwing/dropping things...wherever... but I am making progress. Slower than I'd like, but progress is progress.

I still get the FlyLady emails and once a month I review my schedule to see if there are any improvements that can be made or any additions that need to be made.

I use her a lot. She's really great at what she does, I think. Sometimes her personality makes me uncomfortable, but for the most part, I really like her methods.

I started subscribing to Flylady about 5 or 6 weeks ago. I had heard horror stories about the volume of e-mail, etc. So I was a little worried but decided to try it for a couple of months.

So for me here are the things I follow:

1. Monday House Blessing - I follow this every Monday. The one thing about this is that everytime I would go into a room before I would always think I needed to empty the trash. Now I do every room on Mondays. Some only have a few sheets of paper but they are emptied.

2. I love the dinner reminder in the mornings. I have always been one to go to the fridge or freezer at 5:00 and try to decide what to cook. Now I make that decision early. I always decide every morning when I get that e-mail.

3. I like the Friday afternoon car clean-up. It works great. I don't always get to it on Friday but as soon as I read the e-mail (sometimes on Saturday) either I go to the car with a bag and a dust cloth or I send one of the boys. My car is always neat and clean now.

4. I start getting ready for bed 30-45 minutes before bedtime.

5. I spend 5-10 minutes per day reading the testimonials. Any that I don't get to I delete. I feel there will be plenty the next day. This way I keep my e-mail box clutter free.

6. I have a list of the items that need to be done each day. I only clean 3 or 4 times a week. I set a timer and get as much done as possible. If I happened not to get to something it can wait until the next clean day.

7. I try to spend 10 minutes in whatever zone they are working in. At the beginning of this week I had an extra 10 minutes before taking the boys to school and I was able to clean out a cabinet in my kitchen. I had wanted to get rid of a bunch of old dishes and could never find the time. In 10 minutes they were gone.

8. I only touch the mail once. I don't get it until I know I have at least 5 minutes to go through it. I immediately shred the junk (cc offers, etc.) put the bills in the desk, put the magazines in the rack, etc. My piano used to be full of papers.

Figure out the things that work for you and skip the rest. Even if you are only going to use 1 or 2 ideas they will probably save you time and stress in the long run.
