It's funny how things turn up when you really need them. The same thing happened when my mom moved out of her tiny apartment to a larger townhouse, and she needed particular pieces. We made the rounds to garage sales for her and found everything she needed, down to and including a large entertainment center we salvaged from a curb for her cookbooks. Most of the stuff we found for her place was really nice and really cheap.

I haven't posted in a while as I have been sick and not out shopping. I went to a TS that is only open two mornings a week, got 3 set of lace curtains for $6. Perfect. 2 sets for LR windows and one curtain each for smaller BR windows.

Yard sales yesterday, 2 throws, perfect color for LR couch, 50 cents each. Medium size RevereWare pan with lid, $1. Electric mixer, $2. Blanket, $1.

Pretty well set on cookware now. Not too much left to shop for. Maybe a small bookcase for kitchen, for cookbooks. Still need artwork for walls.

I just read this thread and enjoyed it very much. Your place sounds very cozy and interesting.

I am almost through buying stuff (major stuff, anyway). I got a twin mattress for the guest room, $71 but I had a $50 gift card for WM (from MyPoints). I may buy a frame for it if I feel flush next month. Finally have curtains and rods for all the windows, all lace. Still would like a chair for the guest room. I am getting addicted to buying chairs!! especially at the $5 place. Still need a night stand for my room.

I don't think metal bed frames are that expensive to buy new. Headboards can usually be found cheap secondhand.

If you want storage under beds, look for cheap waterbed drawer bases. They're harder to come by now that first generation waterbeds aren't as popular. Or you could put bed risers under the bed frame and use totes to slide underneath. It's nice having storage for spare bedding right there under the beds.

got my (maybe) next to the last piece of furniture - a night stand for my room. Unusual, 4 shelves, very weathered looking. I need to find something to re-finish it easily without stripping and sanding. Really there isn't much finish left to strip but there are some water marks. $5. As I was turning it over to see if it was all wood vs. plywood, there is a vintage label on the bottom that says "Grand Rapids" - so I guess that is good, right?

Still looking for another $5 chair for the guest room.

That's really cute! I could see that with a crackle finish on it like I did with my sewing machine I turned into a plant stand for my office.

It was in bad shape when I got it. Normally I don't like finishes that look old but on that piece I do.

I like the table you got. This has been a fun thread to follow. You have done great finding things.
I wish we had more places to get used furniture in my neck of the woods.

That was us a couple years ago. We were badly in need of upgrading much of our furniture, and found all kinds of stuff. Sadly, we found out yesterday the massive rummage sale where we got a lot of our new treasures won't be held this year, and may never be held again. We're grateful we were able to take advantage the past couple of years.

It was fun while it lasted, like it's fun watching this thread. I like to see people find deals almost as much as finding them ourselves.

I am not going to paint it unless there is no other way. I have had enough of painted furniture, and do not have any in the place now except for the Hitchcock chair.
