    Default getting ready for winter

Gabe put plastic on our windows last night. It's pretty cold here in MI already. Zachary has been wearing his winter coat to school and there was frost this morning. We have the heat on already.

Wow, I can't believe it is so cold there for you already.

We are still in the 90's during the day and running the air. We're wearing shorts still. Hopeing it will cool down to 80's soon so we can atleast shut off the air conditioner.

Sorry it is so cold there Sara. Living in Nevada for the last 4 years I've forgotten how cold it can get but we will get cold in late December untill early April.

    Stay warm.

When we got in the car this morning to go to the doctors, the little temp thing in dh's car said 44. I almost passed out! I still have some windows cracked in the house just to let in the fresh air, but they are going to have to be closed. Dd's are already closed and we put her to bed in a t-shirt, sweatpants and socks last night. When she woke up, her little feet were so cold!

It's already gotten pretty cold here too. I'm shocked. I'm worried that we're gonna have an early freeze and we're not prepared to move our plants just yet!
We have lots to do to prepare yet......I need to get cracking!

Plastic is going up here today too, next is both screened in porches, really makes a difference when the wind howls!

New furnace put in last week so that is taken care of.

Sara, I saw on the weather channel this morning it was snowing (5-6 inces worth) in the upper peninsula of MI this morning and wet snow in PA!!! It's too early for that!

It was 38 here at 6:30 this morning. brrrrrr

We have 4 windows that we didn't replace and a couple days ago, we purchased acrylic plastic to put on them. Dh will be doing that tonight.

Its been way below normal temperatures here and if you go by the Farmer's Almanac, here at least were suppose to have colder weather and way more snow. Were about 6-7 degrees cooler than normal.

Two nights ago, we broke an all time record for the coldest night in Oct. The record was from 1871!!!! We were 18 degrees F.

It's 55 right now and looks rather bleak outside but they are saying it's going to get up to 72 today, it was foggy yesterday morning but the afternoon was real nice I was able to have the back door open so who knows it might warm up again today.
I haven't had to have the heat on yet but I know it's only a matter of time before I'll have to give in lol

It was 33 degrees here at 6:30 a.m.! The pellet stove was running quite a bit last night and I found out why at 4 this morning. Someone forgot to close one of the living room windows before we went to bed and no one noticed since we had the curtains drawn shut. GRRRRRR.......

We are still making it up into the lower 80's during the day, but are expecting a cool down next week. At that time we will have to tarp up the swamp cooler and put the cover back up in the hallway so we don't lose warm air that way. The plastic will be coming out again fro the windows and my niece can once again ask me why the plastic has so many "band aids" (tape). We'll just have to remind her that we have kitties who like to drive Aunty nuts by shredding them.

It is already down to 36 here and about an hour ago we had wind/rain/snow mix that was coming down sideways! Our heat too has been on for the last 2 days.

It's 40º here now and "they" say we are due for our first hard freeze tonight. We processed all the basil this afternoon and I'm going to go cover up my herb barrels now. Thanks for the reminder.

It's getting really cool here at night. Today was nice I didn't have to run air or heat (it was just right ) I love those kind of days.
