Question Whats your favorite type of flooring?

Is it hardwood, tile or rug?

Mine has got to be hardwood.   I love it, although I don't have it here.    I might have if I was to take up the rug, but under the rug is tile.    The old timers tell me though, that under that tile is hardwood, but it would be ruin from doing the tiles.  UGH.    Someday I will have hardwood floors.

Well, time to brag. Dh is a hardwood flooring installer (he does do vinyl, tile, and carpeting also). I can't wait until our floors are hardwood. I don't like carpeting (which right now is what we have -came in the house). He does a really great job and i love the versitility in colors of the woods.

Hardwood floors with rag or braided rugs.

I do like tile too but just in certain rooms.

We have and I love hardwood floors with area rugs for everything but the kitchen and bathrooms. In them I prefer vinyl or ceramic tile (which we have now).

I've been seriously pondering hardwood flooring for our house. I've put travertine marble in the guest bath and will put tile in the back bath, laundry room and kitchen but I think the living areas will have hardwood floors. What do you think about bedrooms? Would you all put the hardwood in the bedrooms too? I'm leaning towards carpet for those rooms.

Our bedrooms are hardwood with large oriental looking area rugs. I like it. I had carpet at the other house and hated having to shampoo it. Guess it depends on how clean you can keep it. I never could with dd making a mess and the pets.

I love hardwood. If I could have it in every room here, I would.

CJ. We have hardwood floors throughout the house, except the front entrance and bathroom. In the kitchen when we moved, it was yucky tile type stuff, really don't even know what it was called. We ripped it up and there was the most beautiful maple underneath. We refinished it ourselves, rented a sander and had it done in a weekend. I'm looking at it now and it needs another couple coats of varnish. We just put on the clear varnish and the colour is beautiful. Upstairs and in the diningroom and living room there is hardwood, the narrow kind that was probably put it in the 50's/60's. Upstairs isn't too bad but down stairs we need to redo it.

    Well we have mostly carpet.
DH and I have agreed that as fund permit (if they ever do!) We will put tile, ceramic tile in the bathrooms and washer room, and eventually the kitchen and hardwood or parkay in the rest and get rid of this carpet. Its brandnew, was being put in when we bought the house but its UGLY!!!! If asked I would have requested parkay as that would have cost the same as the carpet.
I was allowed to pick the tile in the kitchen sort of, I HAD to pick a vinyl tile, so I got one that looks like wood. It is not standing up to normal use as well as I think it should though so it will be replaced within the next 5 years. Sooner if we can manage it.
