    Default Who has a fireplace?

How often do you get your chimney cleaned? and do you do it yourself, or get in done professionally?

We have a gas fireplace... we've never had the chimney cleaned. I don't think we have to since we're not actually burning anything, but I could be wrong.

Yes we have an insert in ours & it helps to heat our house. We get our chimney cleaned once a year. Faithfully. Burning a nice fire right now.

We have one and we burn it frequently. We have it cleaned about every year or 2.

We have 4 gas log fireplaces. We also have a big woodstove that we use as our primary heat. We don't clean the chimneys on the gas log fireplaces and I don't know what SO does about the one for the wood stove.

We have a woodburning stove in one of our basements that heats our kitchen and bathroom. (We have real heat that goes to those rooms too, but they don't really warm up without the wood.) Anyway, dh is a firefighter, and completely anal about cleaning the chimney... nothing, can be burned each year until the chimney is cleaned. Growing up we always burned wood as our main heat, and my dad was the same way - had to have that chimney clean before heating season!

We have one but we don't burn in it. I have logs in there, and in amongst the logs i have intertwined and hidden white, yellow and orange christmas lights, i turn on the lights and we get a nice glow. With two little ones in the house i feel better not burning real fires in there for now.
