Donating/De-Cluttering Quote
Love this one! I spent a lot of time yesterday decluttering space in my house and filling bags with stuff to be tossed, donated, and sold. This is a great quote that helped me with the items I was on the fence about. I found it in Unclutter Your Home: 7 Simple Steps; 700 Tips and Ideas by Donna Smallin.
"Complete possession is proved only by giving. All you are unable to give possesses you. -Andre Gide"
How true is that? I know that I have been totally possessed by some of my possessions that I have been unwilling/unable to part with for a variety of reasons. I am working to get past that and to take control of the space in my home. Inanimate objects should not make any rules or decisions in my house! My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Great quote. I believe that inanimate objects should not take over my home either. I had to learn to part with some things that just collected dust myself. They just cluttered up more spcae.

Oh Amy, so, so true. I am in the process of getting rid of more "stuff" and I needed to hear that!!
It's funny because after I get rid of things and see how great my house looks I almost get mad at myself for letting it get cluttered in the first place!

What a great quote!
I'm going to copy that down - where did you get it, I know you said but what I mean is, is that a book?
I noticed when my Dad was dying he got rid of things I thought he'd never part with.
I think it's actually scary how much of a hold our 'stuff' has on us. I AM working on it, but this is really hard for me. I'm like Heather, it annoys me when it's done I didn't do it before, but even knowing that I still grieve for it while I'm trying to do it. And it takes me AGES to go through things coz I keep getting side-tracked and I just can't make the final decision.
I've read so many books on the subject and I get all fired up and motivated, but actually letting go is another story, even though I know it's making me miserable
