Furniture Clutter
Yet another type of clutter described by Don Aslett in his book Lose 200 lbs This Weekend: It's Time to DeClutter Your Life .
Chairs and more chairs, overstuffed, wing-backed, upright, captain's beanbag and blow up chairs, extra office chairs, recliners, couches, sofas, loveseats, futons, hidabeds, roll-away beds, desks, shelves, beds, dressers, nightstands, armoires, cribs, lamps, coffee teables, dining room tables, end tables, card tables, TV trays, and other tables with leaves and extensions, hutches, knickknack and whatnot and showcase and corner cupboards, baker's racks, buffets, butler carts, ottomans, stools, and cushions.
1. Be slow, real slow to replace furniture. Once you start thinking about, and looking at, new furniture (most of which you don't really need), there is no stopping and you do read dumb things.
2. Remember how when you first moved away from home or got married, how long and well you got along with "early orangecrate" furnishings?
3. Once you commit to the new, you need to commit for the old at the same time. Don't move one thingin without a clear and committed destination for the piece being replaced. Old furniture motto-out of the room, out of your life.
4. If you need furniture only for a while, rent it, or use the floor. Nothing is worlse than having lots of furniture to move and a too-small house to put it in.
Goal To have only the furniture you need and have it where it belongs, and for a long, long time. Keep it clean and in good repair so that people will treat it as they should. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

This is one area I'm doing ok with. We're underfurnished here. I do have two chairs I'd like to ditch once we get a new set for the livingroom and move our current livingroom set into the familyroom.

Oh Amy, I didnt' realize he had a new de clutter book, gotta get it out from the library!
I LOVE that guy. His first book on clutter "Clutter's Last Stand" really helped me a lot when I was drowning in junk years ago, and I've been a fan of his ever since.
He is right about the furniture. I got rid of my coffee table some years back and I've never looked back. It opened up my living room, and saved my shins from millions more bruises (I'm a klutz).
