Default Advice for a squeaky wooden floor?

I'm not sure how this happens, but the path to Patricks room is laden with squeaky floorboards and there is no way around them. Does anyone have any tricks for fixing squeaky floorboards?

We had squeaky floors in our bathroom in our home in the city. Dh just took a screw and screwed it into the wood. It stopped immediately. He put the screw right where the squeak was.

You don't want to do this though if you have hardwood floors.

Ours squeak more in the winter because of the dryness. Maybe a humidifier?

I agree that the dryness in winter increases the squeakiness. Our hallway (hardwood) had some pretty loud squeaks and dh tapped the skinniest long little nails right into where the sqeaks were. The nail heads are so small that you can hardly see them and that did seem to help some. I think the problem may solve itself come summer, but I'm sure you're tying to keep as quiet as possible near Patrick's room!
